Funny, you agreed with everything else I said earlier when I was throwing out stats and such. You know this team is not in good shape. You have seen it with your own eyes. You know its not going to get any better this coming season. NU easily has the worst skating blue line in the league. You know what that means. They also have to figure out how to replace 20 goals they got from Pimm, at least half of which were scored in conference if I remember correctly.
They will struggle to hit 10 conference wins again this year. Look for GF to go down this coming year and GA to go up.
And he does not need to get fired, they can be smart and choose not to renew his contract.
I wish I had the same ability to lie to myself about what I have seen over three years like some of you have. What in the world makes you believe a guy with zero history of developing talent, zero history of coaching winning teams, who was a part-time scout prior to taking this job is the guy to get this program over the hump? Outside of the fact that a bunch of you know the man personally, where is this belief coming from?
I am not trolling, I am being honest! Look at the two kids coming in to "help" the defense for next year. A guy from a secondary junior league who nobody else was in on, and a guy HHound has called fat and slow with a big shot (a small moose was the comment). Yeah, improvement![/QUOTE]
HUSKIES01
I've been away for the past few days enjoying the cool climate in Tucson, and I just noticed your latest bit of vitriol. It's good to know that you read my posts, but it's not very good that you feel seem to feel that you can misquote me or misunderstand me to help your "case" as you did in this instance.
What I wrote was:
"Owens was the defenseman of the year in a secondary junior league. He might surprise you on D + he's shown an offensive side. Cockerill seems like a small moose, who is known for having a bomb of a shot. If they play as well as Benning, I'll be delighted, as I expect that the rest of the D to be more effective with another year under their belt."
Where did I call Cockerill "fat and slow"?? He may be stocky, but at 6' 200lbs, but I doubt that he fits anyone's description of fat. As for "slow", I haven't the faintest idea, as I've never seen him play, and I certainly can't determine his speed from the boxscores. Perhaps you can, but I can't. How are you certain that Owens can't help us. He certainly impressed a number of people who followed his development this season. And you state that no one else was "in on him". Really? And you know this, How?
I know. I know. You're just being honest with yourself and sharing it with the rest of us. You don't want us to get our hopes up for next season. You want to save us from the bitter disappointment that comes with not being the NCAA champ, the HEA champ or even the Beanpot champ. There is no need for you to be concerned. Your fellow posters are big boys and girls. We're also experienced Husky fans with thick hides. Whatever happens, we can deal with it!
