Northeastern Huskies 2014 Offseason: Resurrection's Over....Now What?

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2014 Offseason: Resurrection's Over....Now What?

I haven't asked the question, but I had the impression that the cement is still wet. Yesterday I received an offer to renew my season tickets for the same prices as last year. You should have received it as well. I'm away and I haven't had a chance to study it. Perhaps it has a schedule attached.

No schedule attached, but they do indicate that prices for seasons tickets are going up $5-$10 per ticket if you do not renew by June 6th.

WOW, that is a big increase considering that I was getting 2 seats for $390. $10 increase per ticket would be $160 increase per seat for the season. So long best deal in town.

My 2 seats now would be $800. Is that right?

Is this the HA's plan to increase attendance? If we can't sell 'em for $15, let's charge $20 or $25. Maybe people will flock to the box office to buy tickets, because they are getting more valuable. Pure genius!!!:mad:

Ha! Works for Whole Paycheck...err Whole Foods; Beats Audio too.

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2014 Offseason: Resurrection's Over....Now What?

They are coming off one of the few winning years we can expect to have this decade. They need to raise them up whenever they get the chance.

When things go back to normal this year, and the next few after that where the team struggles to get 10 wins, they replace the coach, etc., ticket prices will probably remain the same.

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2014 Offseason: Resurrection's Over....Now What?

They need the extra money to pay for the new NCAA-mandated unlimited snacks. Have you ever seen a hungry hockey player attack a Snickers bar at 2 in the morning? These guys can eat.

HAHA. That a boy. You need to go over this, its not happening. First off they will easily win more than 10 games next year, and he is NOT GETTING FIRED! Please stop!!! Its boring, it 12 years when he retires you can say he get fired.

Don't keep reacting to his constant drivel. He's just baiting everyone here looking for a reaction, and too many real fans like yourself (and me until I decided enough was enough) have fallen as his prey. Just put him on your 'ignore' list like I put him on mine and you'll be better off. BTW, the only way I see any of his posts is when someone like yourself quotes him and then responds. No more 'replies with quotes' or replies at all from anyone and he will sooner or later get tired of talking to himself.

Different points of view.. always needed in a fan base.
Even one as small as ours.. nothing wrong with the Contrarian.. :)

Just agree to disagree. :)

Funny, you agreed with everything else I said earlier when I was throwing out stats and such. You know this team is not in good shape. You have seen it with your own eyes. You know its not going to get any better this coming season. NU easily has the worst skating blue line in the league. You know what that means. They also have to figure out how to replace 20 goals they got from Pimm, at least half of which were scored in conference if I remember correctly.

They will struggle to hit 10 conference wins again this year. Look for GF to go down this coming year and GA to go up.

And he does not need to get fired, they can be smart and choose not to renew his contract.

I wish I had the same ability to lie to myself about what I have seen over three years like some of you have. What in the world makes you believe a guy with zero history of developing talent, zero history of coaching winning teams, who was a part-time scout prior to taking this job is the guy to get this program over the hump? Outside of the fact that a bunch of you know the man personally, where is this belief coming from?

I am not trolling, I am being honest! Look at the two kids coming in to "help" the defense for next year. A guy from a secondary junior league who nobody else was in on, and a guy HHound has called fat and slow with a big shot (a small moose was the comment). Yeah, improvement!

Just curious - if this team went on to be in the top 3 and either win in the first round of NCAA or win the Beanpot next season - would that be enough for you consider it a success that we can build on? Please note the IF - not saying by any means that I think It's definitely going to happen or anything like that I just don't see the harm in having hopes that this team could accomplish something and get farther than we have in the past. I don't think anyone thinks we're going to win the NCAA tournament - but how about taking a better season as something to build on - not just something that's bound to collapse.

If he managed to make the NCAA tournament then yes, I would consider that an accomplishment. In all fairness, I am not sure where I would put a Beanpot Championship though to be honest. Its a goal for sure and I really want to win one, but that should not be the goal of the program. If he wins one he gets credit for it, but when contract renewal time came up and that was all he had accomplished, no home ice, not making it to the Garden for the Hockey East Tournament, no NCAA tournament, I would consider it a blip, or lucky and move on from him.

I do not think a Beanpot, or one NCAA tournament "being in the conversation to the end" over 6-7 years to be good enough. And please, do not bring up Cronin's record, I am not a Cronin defender, but I think we can all agree that the program was trending way up prior to him leaving. Cronin also had a TRACK RECORD prior to coming to NU, something JM does not.

Fair points - and I agree with you on the Beanpot winning that shouldn't be a contract renewing feat. I do still wish Cronin had more time with the program but things didn't work out that way so I'm willing to see what happens with JM. I expected the first bit to be a little rocky. I'll admit that I've had difficulty getting to watch the week to week progress of the team over the last two years. There were definitely some very low points over that time - but in the small sample size I have seen, there also seen some very bright points that I don't think are entirely unreasonable to believe could catch on and keep going.

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2014 Offseason: Resurrection's Over....Now What?

Huskies01 has some very valid points and I have to admit that this team needs some work, however the progress was excellent and still see this team with 23 wins next year especially with 90% coming back . The key will can the new leaders lead this team and if not who will step up if no one steps up to lead like no one did against BU than it will be a disaster year

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2014 Offseason: Resurrection's Over....Now What?

Just to add to my point. Lets take the best line in HE or even in the country,
Goo = 80 points but the year before 51
Arnold = 53 points but the year before 35
Hayes= 65 points but the year before 25
Total = 198 points but the year before = 111

Now NU 3 remember they were only a line for a short time by here are there numbers
Roy = 46
Szmatula = 39
Aston Reese 19
Total = 104
If this line if left in takt produces 50% more than they did then your 20 goals is made up and that does not even touch on the others . So lets keep the faith

Not going to happen. A 50 point season is more realistic for 2 out of those 3. Roy could maybe push 60. I think what Roy has done in his time at NU is more impressive then Goo due to the talent surronding Roy is about 2-3 levels below what Goo had. That being said, Goo has dmen behind him who can get him the puck, Roy does not. Goo had linemates who can win battles on defense, that sometimes happens with Roy's line. Goo also had coaches who can coach a PP, Roy does not.

ZAR is not going to put up Hayes #'s, and I doubt JM is going to put Szmatula back with Roy to start because Szmatula can carry a line by himself, (the fact that he had 39 points with Murty and Snydeman as wings for a portion of the season is amazing), and JM wants to spread the offense around. Not saying JM is wrong in his thinking there, but I think that is his preferance.

Those 20 goals are going to have to come from Hedges and Stevens being more productive.

How many goals dis Pimm score in his junior season? I think 6, I didn't look it up. They will make it up from other players getting better. The D are terrible, I agree, but they will more than 10 games. Team is much better than it was when he took over and will continue to get better.

50%, I was reading this thinking 20-25%
