Northeastern Huskies 2014-15 Season Thread Part II: It Ain't over!!

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2014-15 Season Thread Part II: It Ain't over!!

Wow, there's some really intelligent NU logic. The coach acts like an idiot, (though I don't think he was "acting") and the AD criticizes him. So now the AD is the bad guy? According to that line of thinking, Bill Belichick never should have released Aaron Hernandez. After all he hired him, so he should stand behind him.

As I've said over on the UNH thread I want to root for you guys, I really do. I remember cheering for NU and being thrilled when Wayne Turner scored that goal back in 1980, which is more than many of the johnny-come-friggin-latelys on this thread can say. But the last couple clowns behind the bench have made that virtually impossible, and sycophants such as yourself don't help.

Nobody in hockey crowd at NU likes Roby, this is just icing on the cake. What did he do? He argued a call and then made a very valid point. You can go on national TV and criticize the president but you can't criticize a brutal call by some of the worst officials in college hockey.

And all of you Parker backers here, please, you are making fools of yourself. That guys was the biggest bag of wind out there. He never shut up!

It is the same in every sport. If they don't like the rules, go get another job. He knows the rules. Repeat offender and did it last 2 games in a roe

Now everyone knows that I am not a Madigan supporter at all. But I stand by him 100% here. I never liked how referees get this protection and saint like reputation for their calls. Madigan has done this before so maybe the league is sees him as Chicken Little.

The problem us NU fans are having is how Roby has repeatedly thrown the culprit under the bus. He's did it to Cronin, he's doing it again with Madigan. Now he doesn't have to defend Madigan at all, but the comment reads like he's just as hurt and offended as the referee was. It could have been worded in a way that states that while he doesn't agree with what Madigan did, he supports his passion and right to argue the call.

Anything other than basically saying he's disappointed, offended and insulted by what Madigan did.

Quite frankly, this AD has made it clear that "Values", "Honor" and "Basketball" are the only things the athletic department cares about. In his mind, he's a men's basketball Final Four appearance away from selling the Zambonis on eBay and converting the arena into a Basketball only facility.

And since you mentioned it, if Umile were to do the same thing..... And we've all seen him do it, so he's not innocent in acting like an idiot and yelling at the refs. And then the UNH AD comes out and completely throws Umile under the bus, would the AD be a bad guy? Or would he soon be sending out resumes to other programs? Maybe its just my NU logic...

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2014-15 Season Thread Part II: It Ain't over!!

Cheerleader? Not sure where you get that. Jack had his run-ins with the officiating, but he kept it on the ice (albeit quite loudly) and did not throw them and the league under the bus by saying he was censored. Using that word was the nail in Madigan's coffin. It's one thing to say to the press that you disagreed with the calls, and you thought they were wrong, but to say the league censors you is crossing the line.

The truth is, Madigan is being censored and he handled it in an appropriate manner without elaborating at the press conference. He did not even go into a gray area when he said he is censored. He was honest and left it at that. I'm sorry Hockey East suspended Madigan who, after starting the year 0-8-1, lead his team to a 15-5-1 record while beating Minnesota, Yale and BC along the way.

Bottom line: It is a real shame that a terrific, hard fought, high profile college game ended due to a questionable penalty in OT. It is unlikely NU could claw back into the Hockey East standings and pairwise rankings without his leadership, especially after the awful start to the season.

You said yourself on more than one occasion: It wasn't a penalty. Jim Madigan had a right and obligation to stand up for his team under those emotional circumstances. That's all he did. Beyond shameful that the AD couldn't see fit to backup the coach who backed up his athletes.

The Final Four appearance ain't happening anytime soon, especially after the vaunted, CAA preseason favorite hoops team lost its 11th of the year tonight to Elon. (BTW, what the heck is an Elon?) And let's remember that Mr. Roby didn't exactly set the world on fire as a BB coach. This man is nothing short of a pox upon the NU athletic programs. All of them.

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2014-15 Season Thread Part II: It Ain't over!!

Parker HAHA. He used to throw atleast 1 hissy fit a night on the officials over calls. Never saw him get suspended.

He was suspended at least a few times since I've been following BU, but don't let facts get in the way of a good rant.

Read the press release. He was not suspended for his comments to the media. He was suspended for actions directed at the officials after both the Maine and BU game for which the team received a penalty both times.

He has a right to stand up for his team but there are appropriate and inappropriate ways to do so. Unless I missed it here, no one knows what he did those two games to warrant penalties both times. Until those questions are answered, it is impossible to say the suspension is not warranted.

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2014-15 Season Thread Part II: It Ain't over!!

Peter Roby is a complete embarrassment. You all know by now my feelings towards him and his history. "Values" and "Honor"?? What a joke. I guess this standard of conduct doesn't include his own inappropriate behavior (his verbal attack on me in the Varsity Club, lying directly to Football boosters, etc..). I applaud Coach Madigan for doing what is right and standing up to the League and saying enough is enough. We're not going to take it anymore! I say good for him. Our coach should be calling people out when it is obvious, time and again when we end up with the $h it end of the stick. At some point it isn't just a coincidence anymore. As for Roby, I renew my call for folks to publicly demand his removal. By that, I mean Doghouse chants, banners and t-shirts. Roby Must Go!

I agree about AD being a joke
couldn't be more impressed with coaching staff and how they kept the team believing after that start.
point was, they all live in that crazy world where freedom of speech is limited. in fairness, Beanpot is a once in a lifetime thing and anyone would probably flip out. absurd call that ruined a great game and comeback

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2014-15 Season Thread Part II: It Ain't over!!

Just steals commits from other schools and sweeps drug users under the carpet. ;)

Mookie forgets about the glass house his team lives in. He forgets about how hard bu tried to get Gaudreau before the lad had been released from his NU LOI (a.k.a "roby's folly"). He also forgets the "upstanding" conduct of players who weren't permitted to finish their college careers as terriers.

You might want to note that the NU players actually go to classes - during the day - with the rest of the student body.

Poor mookie. Memory starting to fail at such young age.

bu never offered him a scholarship because they didnt have one which has irked many bu fans so you and/or your source are misinformed.

Never said that they did. However, creativity is one of their hallmarks.

Huh? You just posted this:

Is this like that What Color Are The Dresses thing? I see a post that says you implied BU offered a scholarship before he had been released, you said you never said that......my head hurts. I want to see the llama chase again.

they are all the same. Look how fast York offered Vinnie Sap a scholarship after he basically got kicked out of BU. He is no better or worse than anyone else, just a little better at biting his lip and burying crap
