Good game Mookie...that Eichel kid is pretty good. Should be an entertaining weekend.

P.S. "We can't hear you" chants are dumb.

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2014-15: Release the Hounds!

The difference is BU could definitely hear us, but we could not hear them. We had like 5x as many students.

If you truly could not hear the BU students, you seriously need to get your hearing checked.

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2014-15: Release the Hounds!

Northeastern had a great showing last night. About double the amount of NU fans to BU fans in the upper deck. At one point the NU fan section was wrapping ten sections around the balcony. Would be nice to go to this tournament and not be heart broken leaving one of these times.

What a sad, pathetic, wet fart to decide that spic showdown with a penalty call nine seconds in to overtime. Weak, terrible call. You just need to put the whistle away at that point unless something ridiculous happens.

Painful to watch that defensive core at times last night. Owens with the wet fart along the board on the first goal. Cockerill backing in and giving the blue line and the entire defensive zone instead of stepping up. Saucerman was bad too.

Team just isn't that good but at least they fight hard when they are down and don't give up. Some very good players on this team but no depth.

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2014-15: Release the Hounds!

We can all talk about how bad the reffing was and how much(NU) was shafted again (last year in NH) but lets be honest we played very well and matching up Szmatulas line and Eichels was an excellent move by the coaching staff. That line matched up real well and kept there big guns off the board. As I stated a while back this team is a very good one and will be in the thick of the HE championships. No one arguably is playing better than NU it will also be very interesting if the coaching staff gets these guys back after such an emotional loss as last night time will tell this will a huge test to see if the coaching staff is worth it's salt

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2014-15: Release the Hounds!

Darou tied for third for best plus minus on NU. That's surprising. Who woulda thunk?

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2014-15: Release the Hounds!

Mookie was sitting in the balcony across from all y'all in the bc section.
He had no trouble hearing and understanding the bu kids

By the OT nu had 8 sections of standing folks wrapped from the net to center ice. It was stunning to see. Almost made Mookie wish nu had won to see them jumping and scare the chit out of him sitting 8 stories above the earth.

Almost :p

I hope those students all show up Saturday and make sure Matthews is rocking. If not, shame on them.

I hope Northeastern's band that was there last night also shows up on Saturday. I don't think I've heard them at Matthews as loud and great as they were last night. I love a good pep band and yours was really good last night.

Edited because I thought it I knew how to spell! :o

They've gotten quite a bit better the past few years. I'd heard they were a volunteer operation for quite some time and it's tough to keep kids from leaving the band after the ninth home loss of the season, but the turnout has been very good this year I'd say.

Not sure when break starts but I hope the local students and the co-op kids find time to make it to the arena this weekend (and next, if necessary)

Watch out! J.D. will give you negative rep for being a BU homer! Supposedly, it is "homerism" that "needs to be toned down" to say it is ridiculous that someone could claim that he/she couldn't hear the BU students.

All that being said, it was impressive to see the NU student section that was probably the best I have ever seen at the Beanpot.

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2014-15: Release the Hounds!

I was really hoping that right after both students finished chanting Safety School at each other in unison they would do the same with We Can't Hear You, would've been a high point in Beanpot history.

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2014-15: Release the Hounds!

After the tying goal I just looked around and took it all in with a big smile on my face. What a tremendous atmosphere. I'm fortunate that I was able to share it with my 10 year old son.

And yes, NU had a lot more fans last night, but size doesn't matter, it's what you do with it. :)

This needs to happen next year.

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2014-15: Release the Hounds!

I was kinda hoping for a Where's Your Oscar chant from the BU fans but I'm probably the only person that would've got that cheer. Or thought it was funny.

Wrong.

Complain that the call was weak or that it went against the way the game had been played to that point. Those points are legitimate. The timing of a call is NEVER an excuse. Look, as fans of Hockey East we can't ***** and moan that we want more consistent officiating, and then complain that the whistles aren't being put away in overtime. A trip, a hook or a hit from behind has to be the same penalty in the first period, the third period or overtime; up 3 goals, down a man already - the calls have to stay the same.
