Northeastern Huskies 2013-14 Season Thread II: In Witt we Trust

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2013-14 Season Thread II: In Witt we Trust

Perhaps he can accelerate TWO years by going to summer school day and night!

It's amazing and depressing to see how quiet this thread has become after the nightmare of last weekend. AFAIK, THE SEASON IS NOT OVER YET!!! UNH still has to beat us. Their overall historical record in March has been disappointing and generates ridiculous calls for Umille's head almost every year. Their record against us at Lake Whitt has, sad to say, been outstanding. Their posters are doing the math to map a path to the NCAAs by figuring in a sweep of NU. Is it possible that their team may be a bit overconfident, while ours may be rejuvenated and desperate?

Don't confuse what the fans say on a message board for how teams feel in the locker room.

Of course you are correct. A corollary would be: Don't confuse what the fans say on the message board with what the coaching staff may have in mind.

More than anything else, I was hoping to stir up some discussion on this board, but most of the posters seem to have taken the week off. Whatever happens next week we should be able to agree that this has been an interesting and surprising season.:)

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2013-14 Season Thread II: In Witt we Trust

well... if they hadn't teased us all season.. would've been better. 9th, 8th okay fine.

now, having over achieved all season.. having done that, then big swoon.. gonna lv us hanging at the altar now.. :)

UNH is strong at the Whitt & its uphill. Wish NU had just taken care of business last wknd in HE.
Oh well, just makes more of a drama.. unfortunately I think I know how this one ends..

ps: I love surprise endings! go out & do it then!..
:)

So who do we want to win this weekend, UMASS and BU right?

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2013-14 Season Thread II: In Witt we Trust

A new recruit for 2015 according to the Heisenberg site. Defenseman Eric Williams (Aurora - OJHL)

http://www.pointstreak.com/prostats/playerpage.html?playerid=7148329&seasonid=12145

It's interesting that our last two recruits have been the top offensive D and top forward (on a PPG basis) on what is probably the top team in the OJHL. We certainly are trying to shore up the D. We've played 8 defensemen this year, all of whom can return next year. We have two more coming in next fall - Owens and Cotterill. That will give us perhaps 10 on the roster. In 2015 we graduate two - Manson and Lauers. That fall we have three more to replace them - Duchesne, Coturier and now Williams. Are we planning to play 3D's with two forwards???

Jimmy can say to his Ds "look to your right. Look to your left.....". Clearly there are changes in the works.

I think 2 dmen are automatically gone. I would not be surprised if it goes as high as 5 guys leaving or being told that they need to play elsewhere.

Do you mean for next fall? If so, who?

No one is being graduated, so there will need to be cuts. My guess would be Darou with Schecter becoming a RW candidate. Fennell is/was not on scholarship and has improved significantly this year. Whatever became of Gus Harms?

Yup next years team. There will be cuts, no way all these guys come back. I think one or two guys may choose to go pro, and another may graduate early and look to move on. Offseason stuff though.

Are we still talking Dmen? Turning pro? The only 2 that would even have that option would be Manson and Benning, would be shocked if either left. AS far as the rest, I would not care if any left, but any of them turning pro is laughable.

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2013-14 Season Thread II: In Witt we Trust

Assuming Manson and Benning are back, who sits on D this weekend. At UNH with all the ice, we need guys who can stride.

Who are the next best skaters? Schecter is probably the next best skater, after that. I am sure Lawlers will be in there, then its down to Gunn, Saucerman, Darou and Fennell for the final 2 spots.

Just seeing how JM has played them this year, I think we can pencil in Sauce and Gunn. My guess for the pairings:

Gunn/Manson
Sauce/Benning
Dax/Schechter

glad you are optimistic. I am very wary after that last wknd of hockey they put on. time to step up or step out.

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2013-14 Season Thread II: In Witt we Trust

We need news on injuries. Then we can decide on being optimistic.
