Northeastern Huskies 2013-14 Season Thread II: In Witt we Trust

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2013-14 Season Thread II: In Witt we Trust

Is anyone else extremely worried that with a BU sweep, a UNH sweep in 2 weeks, and at least 1 autobid coming from a non-top 16 team that we could be on the outside looking out?

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2013-14 Season Thread II: In Witt we Trust

This puts to bed any notion that Madigan is a good coach. No excuse for your team to come out this flat in the biggest weekend of the year against a crap BU team sitting 9 combined players over 2 games. Absolutely pathetic. Why stick with the same lineup after last night's disaster? It was broken, fix it.

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2013-14 Season Thread II: In Witt we Trust

An absolute embarrassment of a performance. Coaching staff did not have this team prepared at all.

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2013-14 Season Thread II: In Witt we Trust

Pathetic. Season is pretty much over since there is no way we win even one at UNH, that's who we play now right or are they 3rd seed?

Nope its UNH.

11th in pairwise right now. Will only get worse with 2 UNH losses. Then add the other teams in their tourneys. Providence and Mich will definitely pass us. That's 13th. Atlantic hockey gets an autobid. So that cuts the Pairwise to 15.

EDIT: Ended the night and regular season 14th.

As I suggested, your credo must be "Expect nothing and you will never be disappointed". I hope you aren't a salesman. That would be tragic. Did you propose to your wife by saying something like" I know you probably aren't interested, but I really have to ask you a question...?:D;)

This is why I expect nothing.

Glad I didnt go in tonight for this one and only got the last ten minutes online. Dinner with the wife at a nice restaurant with free babysitting, looks like I picked the right game to miss.

Well done by JM & Staff & team for not only losing on the road, but coming out the next night and blowing it again.

just wondering, was Cody allowed out on the ice for senior night?

Disgraceful performance all around. To be swept by a team that hasn't won a game since December is embarrassing.

I guess the recent expectations for this team were just a little too lofty.

This team only goes as far as Witt will take them and he appears to have finally come back down to earth.

Season Over, NCAA's over, LOL, Colton Saucerman sucks, he lost this game for us and here is my final prediction Roy is going to leave or at least he should because he is getting absolutly "zero" by staying, he would be a fool to stay, waste of time. Madigan well, he deserives this outcome really. He forgot in 3 ***** years @ the helm to build a DEFENSE! Talk to you in October! 0 for 2 v BU and 0 for 3 v BC, and the barn was 1/4 full. NU is just not a hockey school, less fans now then when I attended adn it was a 50% commuter school. No fan spirit at all, at the BU game on Friday the atmosphere was eletric, this program is on life support, if you were a top prospect why would you ever wan to come to play for us.

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2013-14 Season Thread II: In Witt we Trust

For the love of God, enough with Hedges out of the top 6, he is a guy that needs skill players around him. Stevens should be third line center, Hedges should be with Pimm and Darou cannot be on the top pairing, period.

DD should not even be on the ice. As for Hedges, there are only two other skill guys on this team, so unless you want to put him on the first line and take ZAR off, he is a man who is going to set up for grinders.

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2013-14 Season Thread II: In Witt we Trust

Nobody is more disappointed then me. They blew there season tonight. Just awful, there D suck. Saucer man, gunn are horrible. No Manson no Benning buried this team. I think some people here, Rossi are overreacting a little. This program is on the rise, this is an awful weekend no doubt. Roy would be a fool to leave, is he playing in NHL? No so come back. They have a real uphill battle in 2 weeks, but unh is not that good, although without Manson and Benning they are done

Just so disappointed again. Another heartbreak. You just hope they once they as a school, not just this team but all of he teams in the past could once go out there and win a that big game. They just never do it, really hard for true followers of the program.

Their defense is pretty awful, but I don't think Schecter or Fennell played that bad filling in for Benning and Manson. Saucerman was terrible tonight, especially giving up the puck at the offensive blue line which resulted in the game tying goal. I think the problem is that by combining Szmatula with Roy and Aston-Reese, the team only has one true scoring line and three lines full of grinders, besides for Pimm. BU shutdown that first line for most of the weekend and the Huskies were unable to score for the most part. The PP is basically the first line plus Hedges and it is atrocious. You need special teams to perform well this late in the season. Witt also gave up a couple of softies this weekend but there just didn't seem to be any urgency in the way the Huskies played.

If you think UNH is not that good, then you must think BU is terrible and look at what they just did to us. UNH has tons of speed and with that Olympic size ice surface at the Whitt, they are going to decimate the slower dmen such as Gunn and Lauwers.

Manson could'ce played this weekend if he'd had to, (which apparently he did). He'll be in vs. UNH.

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2013-14 Season Thread II: In Witt we Trust

Man I feel bad for you guys, too much heartbreak this season. I keep an eye on NU because me and my best friend from college are now currently in grad school (him at NU, myself PC). He took me to the Beanpot Finals this year, that hurt so bad I thought I went to NU for a little bit (talk about 1 in a million deflections), something about watching those "superfans" celebrate gets under my skin, or maybe it's just BC as an institution in general that gets under my skin. All is not lost yet, and I say that because I thought the Friars season was over after we tied and lost to ND at home and went almost a month without a win and Gillies was playing like crap plus we couldn't buy a goal. After a 2-6-2 stumble which put PC on the outside looking in on the pairwise rankings going into the last two weeks of the season they were able to sweep UMass (not a huge statement but it wasn't a stretch to think they could pull off a sweep vs a cellar dweller). But 2 games at Alfond where Maine was 11-1 seemed daunting. As most of you saw PC swept them up there, never ever would have predicted that. Reading this thread just made me think of how negative I was when things were bleak, Gillies sucks and world jrs messed with his head, we don't have any real scoring threats like Roy or Gaudreau, what a waste of a good start to the season, etc. 2 solid weeks and all that changed. They play the games for a reason so good luck vs UNH.

Now, that will really get under your skin. Of course we cant display them all because you would have to build an addition to Conte.......................... Re: Northeastern Huskies 2013-14 Season Thread II: In Witt we Trust

I posted a concern awhile back that CW hasn't seemed to be his old self ever since the freakish deflection in the waning minutes of the Beanpot. And that same comment could be applied to the whole team which, aside and apart from goaltending, obviously struggled against the bottom feeders down the stretch.

Now I read over on DHD that both of the Ferreiro brothers apparently quit the team right after the Beanpot. So I'm left to wonder if there aren't internal issues that might be playing out on the ice.
