Northeastern Huskies 2010-2011 Season Thread

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2010-2011 Season Thread

Our 'D' played sound hockey.. more than that.. that was some of the best shot blocking i've seen in a while.

Rawlings was good when we needed him to be. Almost had a shutout, but the lone BC goal was a good one. Eagles put some pressure on us in the last ticks with the empty net.. glad this one worked out for the home crowd. Team definitely earned the 3 pts this wknd.

Way to go Sebastian Laplante & everyone behind the bench last couple nights.

Matthews was rocking.. ask Tyler Seguin.. stopped by to catch the gm.. i had a chance to chat with him real quick & he said so himself :)
Real proud of our guys.. way to go team!

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2010-2011 Season Thread

Btw, that was a very disciplined gm.. NU did its part staying out of the box (both clubs played pretty clean). Sincerely believe if we can skate 5x5, can have a great couple gms against UNH as well.

Goal by Reid was awesome.. held it on stick until Muse gave up the opening..
Great to see both goals scored by freshmen. 'Free Cronin'.. very clever. :)

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2010-2011 Season Thread

.. let Rawlings in on this.. that way he'll post a shutout tonight. :)

Came pretty close. How come Rossi aint around after wins? Loved the scouting on Rawlings, he gets across the goal slowly. wow. Like, nobody else has realized that going back to last season. Next you can tell us how he struggles when the play goes behind his net. Enlightining.

Fact is, the kid is huge, and if he can stay strong in the net, he provides very little net for the opposing teams to shoot at. The kid has also come a very long way from where he was last year at this point. I still think he had never had any coaching prior to coming here, because for a guy his age, raw is to kind of a term.

Unfortnuate about the two coaches, happened up at UNH not that long ago, and chances are if the NU Hoops team had not run into issues and were not on probation right now, Cronin would be behind the bench. But with NU athletics already under the watchful eye of the NCAA, discretion is the better part of valor.

Cronin will be back. He won't leave over this. Not when he has this thing moving in the right direction.

Anyway, goes to show that October results have nothing to do with February results.

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2010-2011 Season Thread

I said it before and I'll say it again, when Matthews is sold out, no arena compares to its atmosphere. Maybe the Alfond but man the last minute it was rockin' x 10 last night.

What a series between these teams and I can't believe we got 3 points but boys, we got a **** team going down the stretch.

Atmosphere for most of the game was meh, its super frustrating that kids dont yell and scream like they did a few years ago. last minute was epic though, i effin loved that.

Too many first timers. Last year the Dog House was alot louder but hopefully NU finishes the season playing like this and we add to the list of regulars.

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2010-2011 Season Thread

That was the "big win" at home we've been waiting for all year. I feel like the huskies were able to control the tempo and contain BC's speed very well, and were particularly excellent at clogging the shot lanes all night. Both teams played much more disciplined, defensive-oriented hockey. Glad to see the freshmen take care of the scoring last night too. The team is finally coming together and beat the number 1 team in the country's A-game.

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2010-2011 Season Thread

Don't know if that was bc's A game, but regardless...I'm intrigued to see if nu can build off of this and take some points from unh and bu

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2010-2011 Season Thread

LOVING the freshman class right now. Rawlings had a solid game, looked a bit scary a couple times. Lets see if he can heat up for a run. NU is dangerous. A real trap for higher seeds. BC defense continued to struggle, example a, that first goal. I had predicted a 1-0 game, I was close.

Ill be goin the witt on friday.

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2010-2011 Season Thread

P.s. did anyone see all of cronins illegal recruits running on the ice after the game??? LOL

Wasn't NU's A-game either. We played much better against BU earlier in the year.

That's fine. I mean, if both bring their "A" game...I know what team I would take. Anyway, I was at that BU game--very entertaining. Bad result though ;)

If you play BU like you did BC, I'd think anything less than a split would be disappointing.

I agree. Also, the Superfan(boys) who were at Matthews weren't really a bother. Neither were the BC fans after the Beanpot. Impressed considering the stupid silverback gorillas down the way on Comm Ave.

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2010-2011 Season Thread

Quick question.

Is it just me or is that every year we are talking about how good the freshmen of that given year are? Then, the very next year they fall off. I feel like the only skaters who put up numbers every year are freshmen and seniors. When's the last time a sophomore or junior put up any numbers? I need to go back 5+ years to Guerriero, Morris, or Ryan. Maybe Ginand?
