Northeastern at Boston University HEA Quarterfinals

Re: Northeastern at Boston University HEA Quarterfinals

Unless things have changed, "Rough" is not a vulgarity.

Well, they weren't saying "Rough" last year...

The fans of other schools probably think the same thing that Cornell opponents think when they hear "Screw BU, [current opponent], too".

So when we play them in Red Hot Hockey do they saw, "Screw BU, BU too?"

Re: Northeastern at Boston University HEA Quarterfinals

Do any NU kids know if they are selling visitor tickets at Blackman? I'm not really big on paying the $8 dollar extra fee (possibly twice).

As for Guzior, dude is a 25-year old husband/father and one helluva goon. Which is funny to begin with. Add in Friday night when he jumped at Nicastro...one of the funniest/most outrageous things I've ever seen at a hockey game. It was also a really stupid play since Nicastro had just matched the original penalty but I'm pretty sure Guz isn't exactly the brightest bulb.
RE; your sig. You really have Rawlings in the same category with those others.... No way jose

Let's not pretend BU is unique in this regard.

They may have said "rough" back in your day but they don't anymore. Stay classy.

Nope...just "Screw BU."

Legend has it that in the early 70s when BU and Cornell were in the ECAC the BU band would play that same song, ending with "Go BU" ad nauseam. The Cornell band and fans couldn't stand it and began substitution "Screw BU." After the 1st RHH game many of the old time Cornell hockey fans were shocked that BU didn't play it anymore.

Kind of like what the students at BU would do for Maine...although I haven't heard that cheer in a few years

P.S. The "Screw BU" chant is done once a game in the 1st period...not after every single goal, power play, prior to the 2nd period and OTs like "The Song." I really wish the BC sucks part of that would die immediately.

It's funny because NU fans are trying to incriminate BU "fanboys" for swearing at a hockey game while they are too busy throwing trash on the ice and counting when guys get hurt. If you think there will never be swearing at a hockey game then you are naive. But hey maybe you don't learn this until the fifth year of studies over there in Roxbury. But until then keep trying to pull the class argument out...neither side(BU or NU) is full of angels nor are BC fans(don't tell them this...Jesus loves them according to them) or any other student section so lets stop trying to decide which ones are classier than the other.

You keep bringing up this throwing trash on the ice issue, they were moronic bandwagon fans that never show up unless the opposing team has a Boston in its name. You can't keep using that as a blanket statement for an entire fanbase. In the case of your chant every single member of your section participates in it, loyal fan or newbie. I can absolutely say that it is on par with the stupidity of any Boston fan chanting "Yankees suck" at a sporting event other than the Red Sox or when the Yankees are not at Fenway.

To the counting out chant, it was obvious to every person in that arena that Millan was not seriously injured and we decided to have a little fun with him. It was creative (unlike repeating "Your mom's husky" 10 times in one game) and many people found it hilarious. bu fans wouldn't know what creativity is though, I haven't heard an original thought worth repeating all year from you guys.

Touchy touchy.... Nice post.

And of course we don't have class. Neither do you. We just keep finding creative ways to lower that bar. I think some of that goes too far, but hey. I still remember the good ol' days when the DogHouse gave out Jason Tapp's phone number to everyone at Matthew's Arena. His voice mail was full within 5 minutes. Good stuff.

Yeah, that is not an untrue statement.

Aaaaaaaaaaaand then you lost me. It was not obvious to every person in the arena that he was not seriously injured. I was there and it was not clear to me. I felt it was inappropriate given the situation. You guys are so much better than that - it surprised me that you would even do that.

Apparently it's carried over from the 70s, because down at Madison Square Garden the Cornell fans in the row behind us weren't exactly cordial. Well, let's be honest. They were VERY condescending and rude. I hate to throw names around (since I advocate against it)....BUT they were basically Ivy League snobs. They didn't even wait for us to open our mouths before they just assumed we were arrogant low-lifes.

I really wish the BC sucks part of that would die immediately.

NOW THAT I CAN AGREE ON!!!!! FINALLY someone who has the courage to say it without worrying about being called a "prude" or any number of other choice terms. There is no need for it. We can at least TRY to be classy!

Sorry I meant it's only once a game againt teams other than BU...gotta get a few more licks in when BU is actually playing :)

As for the Cornell fans...sorry about that...when you get 18,000 people together there are always going to be bad apples. That said, there's a reason Lynah is one of the most intimidating rinks in the league and the #1 reason on that list is that our fans are generally arse holes during the game.

If you wanna make the point about the "BC sucks" chant fine it is very similar to Yankees suck and I don't see either dying anytime soon whether we like it or not. It was not obvious that he(Millan) wasn't hurt he was down and not getting it up and the trainer had to come out. It was a stupid chant to start but hey whatever it takes to be creative right? And yeah yeah we do the same chants all over the game that is why when you chanted "get off the ice" we chanted "get off the phone". "Your mom is husky" was used three or four times sure but anything is better than GO (insert your school here) or Lets go (insert nickname here)! All schools use though so anything to mix it up is ok with me. I can keep the creative chants going if you want we can use "1988","please stop texting",...the list goes on and on with you clowns and your run-in with the NCAA this year. i imagine you don't wanna give us ammo to start them with Cronin back now. We have all the motivation we need. We can be creative without hating on injured players. 108 is one of the more creative student sections out of the rinks I have been to but yes not always the loudest or the best but we come up with some new stuff atleast. NU fans follow ESPN rock jams tracks for your chants. Even BC fans come up with some new arrogant creative chants every now and then. From everything I have heard, Maine fans are the most synchronized/passionate/crazy about hockey. But like I said, no student sections have class and they all have their moments(good and bad) but dont try to pull the we re more creative or classier than you card both places are tough places to play with full student sections and in the end of the day pretty comparable.

P.S. get control of your student sections and trash doesnt end up on the ice...

Re: Northeastern at Boston University HEA Quarterfinals

They are, but the actual section itself is tiny. There's no more than five or six rows, and it covers a very, very small space, so coordinating people is not difficult. Though there is no doubt that Maine has some of the most passionate fans in any sport.

Re: Northeastern at Boston University HEA Quarterfinals

..you must have been a trash collector in your other life.. either that or a trash can..
(not that anything's wrong with it)
.. yup, that's gotta be the fixation.. ..that's it. :)

Re: Northeastern at Boston University HEA Quarterfinals

Speaking of Rawlings, if he chokes tomorrow night, Witt better be in Game 2.
