Northeastern at Boston University HEA Quarterfinals

Re: Northeastern at Boston University HEA Quarterfinals

I was on the opposite side of the arena, so my angle was bad. But, I heard all pipe, and the puck seemed to immediately shoot back out, which is highly unlikely if it went off the interior post. If it hit the outside (red) post and came out, there's a 0% chance it's a goal. But again, my angle was bad. Probably should've at least been reviewed, but did it really matter? The game was long over at that point.

Did Cronin ask for a replay, appear to argue? If he didn't even argue, I'd suspect it was no goal.

In fairness, there was very little for the BU fans who were there to actually cheer about. It was an utterly atrocious performance from BU.

First, Agganis is north of Matthews, technically. And I couldn't hear you over the BU band, so not really. There were more Maine fans at Agganis in November. And while more students will be gone, I'd expect a few more of the non-students since it's a non-school/work night. But a performance like that will leave them all silent again.

North, South, East, West whatever.

Well that makes you, the BU alum I was next to noted that it was like a home game for Northeastern.

And yes, the BU fans had little to cheer about. BU played very poorly. NU played very well but they also spent half the game killing penalties. They stay out of the box and they'll have a chance tomorrow night.

Re: Northeastern at Boston University HEA Quarterfinals

Highlights on HE Online really show how pro-NU the crowd was.

Yep, very true. Felt like there were many more NU fans, especially with them all gathered up in one area. Do the students in 108 ever think about joining those in 118 to form a more cohesive fan section for these games? Just a thought, since there were plenty of seats available. Wouldn't have even filled Walter Brown tonight....

Sure it felt like a home game for Northeastern, your team played well and gave the few hundred of your fans a good amount to cheer about where our guys played like they all had concussions and gave BU fans nothing to cheer about. And please leave your band at home tomorrow, they were the only thing in the arena tonight that performed worse than the BU hockey team.

Very sad. I loved going to Walter Brown even as a visiting fan. The atmosphere was great. That has certainly taken a hit at Agganis with a few exceptions. I go to a lot of college hockey games each year and when Merrimack is not playing, I try to head to an NU, Lowell, BC or Harvard game as it costs a lot less and there is less aggrevation. $26 a pop and then $10 for parking or taking the green line above ground is not fun. I still go to BU games, but it's difficult and I'm still young so I don't have a family of four. That raises the cost significantly compared to a buddy and I going to a hockey game.

I agree, BU has priced out many of the local hockey fans looking to see a good game, and refuses to take cues from other programs, like BC, who offer discounted tickets to the chump games that no one goes to anyway. $28 at the box office or $34 online for a quarterfinal game, or a November game against Brown is ridiculous.

I really would like the BU administration to consider having a game at WBA again. I can see why they wouldn't want to logistically, as they'd likely make a heckuva lot more money at Agganis, but the atmosphere for these low attendance games is horrendous (though tonight was probably more a product of those on the ice!).

Ironically my friend and I said the same thing. BU's band is much better.

They offered discounted tickets for the Merrimack and NU tickets this fall. I get my away tickets through Merrimack, but I get emails from Agganis since buying some tickets for games at Agganis. However, I noticed that you could only use the discount online so once you'd buy the ticket, it would be the same price as if you paid for one at the arena.

Minnesota, North Dakota, Wisconsin, etc can charge a lot of money for their games because they are all in college crazed areas. Personally, I love college sports more than professional sports, but Boston will always be a pro sports town so BU needs to recognize that and charge less for games against Lowell, Merrimack, Brown, etc and allow you to have the discount at the box office, too.

Re: Northeastern at Boston University HEA Quarterfinals

It was Matthews Arena South tonight. Will probably be worse tomorrow with BU on Spring Break.

Agganis will never sound like Matthews... ever. I know you think it sounds loud when you're yelling but the ceilings eat sound like no other.

I did leave 108 for 118 tonight, nobody seemed to want to come with me.

Tonight was pathetic on all fronts, no need for further comments.

Re: Northeastern at Boston University HEA Quarterfinals

Great game by the Huskies, BU only really showed up in the 3rd. That first line of Silva, McNeely and Macleod has really become one of the best first lines in the conference. I thought the PK was outstanding tonight; enough with that passive box, we need to pressure the shooters. Also, if Millan and Rawlings play like they did tonight, this series is over tomorrow. I feel like the teams are pretty equal so the goaltenders are incredibly important.

Re: Northeastern at Boston University HEA Quarterfinals

NU played like I thought they would all year, they are even with BU. They wanted it way more than BU did last night. Come out 1 more time like tonight and end there season. There will be more NU fans and less front running BU fans there tonight. You have the momentum, use it and end this now. This NU team is good, there horrible start killed there season, imagine if they just beat the weak non league games, they would be 17-11-7 on the NCAA bubble. Beating BU feels better than beating any other team, but to lose 2 in a row will erase this great effort. Send them home!

Re: Northeastern at Boston University HEA Quarterfinals

Did Cronin ask for a replay, appear to argue? If he didn't even argue, I'd suspect it was no goal.

No one from Northeastern argued the call. I thought it hit all post, but I thought it at least warranted a review. But if Cronin didn't feel the need to say anything, then I'd say there's a good chance it wasn't a goal.

Re: Northeastern at Boston University HEA Quarterfinals

$30 a ticket for NU students is real pricey, good thing we actually like our team AND have jobs...

Same can't be said for BU fans, student sections were lacking fans and enthusiasm AND they have no jobs..

JD I went, there's no way in hell there were 3k there. That means half of the seats were filled, there were entire sections empty at puck drop.

I was able to move around and was along the goal line for the shot (maybe 110?) but I thought no goal.

You are going to pull the job card because your school has a co-op program? Congrats you also spend your summers and an extra year taking classes. Also lots of BU students work and have classes at the same time...crazy right? That being said, the student sections sucked last night and seems like alot of kids are already on break even though all of the student tickets are gone.

What was the reaction of the guy that shot it? He knows if it went in or not. If he didn't argue or put his hands up in the air then you know it wasn't a goal.
