certainly nice to get something. won't change much in the big picture as of now.. but happy for the kids coming back from couple goals down.

Have to say that Matt Benning is starting to play like a real #1 defensive men. Norte Dame goalie stood on his head and I think Ruck played well too.
We will learn a lot about this team come next weekend vs Providence. I thought they played their best game of the season tonight and if they play like this next week, they get at least 2 points.

The fact that they crawl back after going down 2 or 3 goals almost every game shows me that coaches (as well as players) are doing something right. Now the goal should be to score first.

Hell, yes!!! (You're obviously not aware of the way the season has gone so far.) The game headline, in the minds of much of the flustered fan base, reads "Northeastern Wins, 2-2."

So NU is sitting on 2 points out of 6 games. The only realistic thing left to play for now is home ice in the first round. Last year it took 20-22 points to land that. Now, the last 6 games of the year, even with what will be a Beanpot hangover should all be winnable games. State school games against Umass, UCONN, and then Maine. Figure 12 points there. That gives the team 14. Can they get another 6 to 8 points out of games against PC/BC/UNH/Merrimack/UML? So maybe splits with Merrimack and UNH? That gets you 4 more points. Can they get enough points out of PC/BC/UML? Maybe UML in Ireland? Neutral site game? Perhaps catch a team sleeping against us?
That is the question that needs to be asked. Can they get to 5-8?

Dream On The Minutemen are going to give us a tough time. They can score a ton of goals. I have seen them play 2x and have seen NU play 4x. The reality is ND isn't that good. This team is ranked 57th in the nation for a reason. We get a point on the road and you would think we had to call Mayor Walsh to close City Hall Plaza and start the parade. The team is not all that great for all the resons I mention in other posts D and Goal tending the have a tough schedule ahead and I don't expect that they will dig out from the horrific start like they did last year.

This is the biggest thing that grinds my gears this season: this team does not have a true identity that they play to. When I came to NU, I was told NU was a team that may not have the same talent, but dammit they will make you earn a point or two with their physical play. Same can be said for what Merrimack was. BC and UNH were always smaller, faster players that kill you with precision. Merrimack/Maine were physical for 200 feet. bu had (and has today) a mix of both. UMass today, for all their defensive flaws, is one of the most potent offenses in the country, they can fly too. I can't think of any identity that the NU team has. Every player JM brings in he raves about their "hawkey sense, really thinks the game well, very cerebral" - WHERE IS THAT SHOWN ON THE ICE?! I'm frustrated as any because clearly the talent is there. But the talent is not woven into something to be reckoned with. We won't outshoot you. Won't outscore you. Won't out-pass you and make you dizzy. Won't out-hit you and make you sore the next morning. Won't fly by you and make you wheeze to catch up. This team has no system or identity, for my eye, other than pass on the perimeter and shoot when the proverbial shot clock hits zero. Sure, there's a sniper or two (Roy, Sikura) and physical bodies (ZAR, Kurker), but they are pieces that seem out of place. Individual strokes to a painting that I cannot discern what the image is supposed to be.

a good (legit).. HC knows how to take the best from his players & mold the group.
Madigan is not a legit D1 HC!
if the team can find a way to band together & give it their best night in, night out.. we'll have a few small victories until school admin can wake up someday and pick up what's left of the hockey program. until then.. it is what it is.
end of story.

No. Couturier wanted to come a season earlier then Madigan and Company wanted. they felt he needed another year of Juniors. he did not.

You are correct about Couturier. In fact, no other team thought he was ready for the 2014-15 season, which is why he was still available when BC needed to replace guys who might turn pro.
IIRC, NU recruited Eric Williams and later JonBarry shortly after parting with Couturier .
