Re: Northeastern 2012-2013 Season Thread: A New Hope

Madigan will get his *** handed to him by ND 3 times next year

Are we playing before or after the new year?

(And, jokes about the nose dives the Irish have made a practice of the last few seasons aside, don't forget what happened the last time the two teams played...)

Re: Northeastern 2012-2013 Season Thread: A New Hope

Yes NU got beat by a better team, but really when hasn't BC been better then them? You act like this is unheard of? They are way more talented. The 2nd goal Rawlings needed to come up with, 3rd was tipped, 4th was all D and 5th was all D. Losing Manson hurt, but Saucerman played well. They need better D, they need more depth at Forward. They are losing Saponari and Garrett up front. I know Rossi you say that there is nothing in, but you will say anything you can right now to put down the program cause you have an agenda. But from neutral people I have heard that the class is pretty good coming in. Hopefully Roy gives it another go around. Takes time to rebuild. I actually thought that they played very hard tonight, they lack the talent, but Jim got the most out of them.

Steve, as this is pretty much all I done for 25 years as a hobby with kids, nephews and local kids I have watched play at 6am when they were all mites and in the GBYHL at the coldest MDC rinks and later in places like Detroit and Montreal when they were all Bantams and Pee Wee’s for Teams like the Middlesex Islanders, SS Kings and Honeybaked and Little Ceasers, I have followed many into the top Jr. programs and to the prep schools and now into the USHL, I know all about of the American players 14 to 21 from coast to coast running invitational camps for the Jr Ducks and Team California in Summer, and if they are local I likely know their parents. We have a good class by NU standards, true, but trust me by HE standards it is only fair and will not propel us to the top ranks of this division, BTW CT has recruited better prospects in my view, and is socking away the $$$ for the future, if you want to look at a program that will be winning in the next decade, look to them, as the administration of that University, clearly loves to win, even if you have to bend the rules some of the time. That’s the kind of attitude you need here when your are the 3rd wheel in the College HUB of hockey. We don’t have an administration that cares about winning we never have and likely never will. If you are fine with an occasional 4th or 5th place finish then bye all means continue to support this program. I have written my last check. In the meantime, I say, GO BOBCATS! as they should be a model for quick transition to success that we should model after, We are talking about a program that has made perhaps a dozen NHL players in 70 years, and that’s a crying shame. Madigan has a less than .420 winning % worse than Cronin and even worse than Don McKenney, Crowder and even Ben Smith! However he is both chosen and liked and will continue to try hard to catch better teams, the announcers said it tonight after the game Andy Brickley, said it best, NU simply does not have the talent to hang 4 lines with BC. We tried hard and made a good game of it, we did not embarrass ourselves, big deal, same result as always 2nd place, 3rd place, 4th place, the fact is that unless we expect and demand more, we likely never will get much better. and as a result will always be exactly where we are right now, which is ok becasuse it's where we have always been.

With all due respect to the likes of Steve Morra and Braden Pimm, you just aren't going to win many games with those guys on your second line. Lets face it, the only trio that has any chance of scoring is the first line. For me, vermeesch has been the biggest disappointment this year, I really thought he would finally pick up his game as a senior. As for Rawlings, you never really see him make any big saves. I, for one, will be happy to see him go.

Yep. It was tilted that way all night and it got more pronounced as the third period went on. For all of that, they not only got two even strength goals, they also sprung Roy for two breakaways. (If I were a BC fan, I'd find Milner to be maddening. Roy absolutely should have had two goals... the two breakaways. The goals he actually scored were bad, bad goals.)

..very true about Vermeesch. Had a point blank chance to get us on the board, blew it. Never passes the puck in the slot or otherwise..takes unnecessary shots from impossible angles, not to mention his poor finish on his breakaway..

.. far as Rawlings, never been consistent.. held on for as long as he could, played well in the first round..

far as tonight ..you hit the post..get one or two past him..its lights out..its more a mental thing with him.

NU had their chances.. BC finished theirs..

Take your pick. I find two reasons for the loss last night.
1) Rawlings. Never consistent. Horrible last night.
2) Madigan. Why did you not convince Giles to come to NU?!?!?!?! I would rather a freshman in net than that inconsistent POS Rawlings. Or better yet, why couldn't you convince Rawlings to go?!?!?! This team is so efn maddening. Shoot me and put me out of my misery.

Re: Northeastern 2012-2013 Season Thread: A New Hope

I hate Kevin Roy.

Question for those who watched the entire game, why was Coach Madigan so mad on the bench in the second period? Was there a bad call? He looked "Parker-esque" there.

Re: Northeastern 2012-2013 Season Thread: A New Hope

Madigan looked like a ******* on tv all night. What a buffoon.

Clearly if Roby is going to get rid of Cronin for breaking the rules, he will get rid of Madigan for repeatedly trying to play with 6 guys.

..exaggerate much?
You & Carmine need to stay off the caffeine for a few days. :)

..this is very true. We've caught him (Milner) napping twice now from the blue line, just this season. Minnesota will not be as kind. :)

Roy should have had one out of those two at least.. Vermeersch should have had his.. (not to mention the one in the first period point blank, which would have puts us up first..).. as someone has mentioned.. it kinda helps to have been there on the big stage couple times & lost/won.. won & consistently win and succeed. We're kinda working our way up.. need a few more pieces to the puzzle. MVP from NU was well deserved. Rawlings played well in the first gm.. tuned out after the first goal in the finals yesterday. The giveaway goal on the BC 'dump in' was mind boggling.. something only he can 'uniquely' do.. :) & did.. tough hole to climb back from 4-1.. we almost did.. but the softies kill us. Including his softy in the 7-6 OT loss, couple finals ago.

I'll take his 36-6-2 record and ~1.9 GAA the past calendar year plus but thanks for the concern

BTW I know I'm not breaking any news here but Jesus, what an offensive talent Roy is

If you knew the definition of "repeatedly", you'd know it's not an exaggeration.

Anyway, I really liked the effort NU put forth last night. Obviously they were outgunned but got a lot of breaks (again, playing with 6 guys TWICE, and BC hitting the post 5 times) to help keep it close.

I know the definition of 'repeatedly trying to exaggerate'.. which you often (try very hard).. to do.

now 'twice' on the line chg is true.. thanks. that is the refs job..

You guys got it right.
It just pizzes me off to no end that this kid just wins when it matters. :p

Re: Northeastern 2012-2013 Season Thread: A New Hope

I don't think it was a knock on Milner.. FiveHole.. the kid is rock solid.

It was more like.. whoa..
those went in..? couple times..
and those.. point blank.. we missed??!?! ..more than couple times..

I was watching the broadcast, and I don't have the foggiest notion of what he was upset about. In terms of what they showed on TV, I thought NU generally came out ahead on the officiating. The first penalty called on NU was pretty soft (a bit of a hook followed by a first-class dive), but I didn't think Gaudreau should have gone at the end of the first period, and there's the obvious too-many-men thing.

You guys got it right.

I guess it's just a commentary on his performance last night than his overall capability, because as you indirectly note, I haven't really been watching him play beyond that.

Fivehole himself will tell you that we have seen some of these concentration lapses from time to time from Milner this year and seems like its early in periods if i'm not mistaken but if I had to pick a goalie going into the NCAA's , he's the one i'd want in my net

..me too.

..or Gillies .. IF WE COULD GET HIM... no wait ...!!!

Btw, Thiessen'sBetter (from another thread).. you've got Madigan too high on your HE ..HC power rankings..
:)

Ugg, I still have fantasies of Roy and Gaudreau skating alongside each other with Gillies between the pipes.
