Re: Northeastern 2012-2013 Season Thread: A New Hope

..no kidding

even the 2nd goal (the gift).. Roy was skating top of the crease at high speed & managed to get his stick out & tip that puck.. so as fluky as the 3rd goal might have been (i think it was a hustle play).. both the 2nd & 3rd g, he had some amazing eye hand coordination going. Smart player.

Re: Northeastern 2012-2013 Season Thread: A New Hope

Congrats guys! Any win against BU is a good win and in the Beanpot it's all that much sweeter. I hope you kick BCs arse.

Re: Northeastern 2012-2013 Season Thread: A New Hope

All three penalties in the late 2nd were not even close to being penalties.

The slashing penalty off the first powerplay faceoff was a good call. NU player was out of position and slashed the living daylights out of the BU player, who was probably otherwise going to walk in on Rawlings with the puck. Had to be called.

The call on Manson was putrid.

Congrats on the W by the way.

Re: Northeastern 2012-2013 Season Thread: A New Hope

Just hope our last 'L' to you guys (score wise anyway).. was the fluke.. not our 'W' earlier this season.

Just make a gm of it team.. let the chips fall where they may!
:)

Congrats guys. I'm all in on the Huskies. 1988 was a looong time ago. FINISH IT!!

I agree that the hip check call was putrid. However, the HFB looked legit to me, and I would even go so far as to say that we were very lucky it was only two and not five. By the letter of the rules, it should have been five+game.

Anyway, besides checking for high sticking.. & BU had already played the puck thereafter.. what else were they looking for or at? It was a simple, hustle play (talk about hand eye coordination).. and a clear goal. What were they checking that long?

Best I can guess, they also wanted to make sure it was off of Roy's stick and not his leg.

..agree.
Glad it was a 2 though.. looking at the replay, Escobedo sold it quite well for a 5..as well.

if roles were reversed..that were a bu goal, it would've been unreviewable. :)
that took way (bias).. too long.

Re: Northeastern 2012-2013 Season Thread: A New Hope

To me, Escobedo blatantly turned into that hit at the last second. I admit, that makes it very difficult for an official. We've heard it before, but players really need to stop putting themselves in positions like that.

Thanks. Hoping the final is competitive; that all depends on Rawlings. Seems like Whitney has been your best player the last month or so. The goal against UVM and the goal last night we're spectacular. JG looked off last night, he wasn't creating chances nearly as well as he normally does.

Re: Northeastern 2012-2013 Season Thread: A New Hope

I have no doubts that this will be a one goal game, potentially OT. None whatsoever.

Re: Northeastern 2012-2013 Season Thread: A New Hope

With what 12-14" snow expected Friday.. (don't know how Amherst gets affected).. there might be a chance our Fri gm gets cancelled (in other words postponed to beyond Monday).

Hope Madigan & co are thinking about this.. more time for purposeful practices!..

:)

ps. too bad re Jerry York night at BC.. hopefully they can reschedule that quickly as well if the storm gets really bad.

NU bus will leave Boston at 2pm the latest. They will be in Amherst well before it gets bad out. They will play that game. It'll just be a longer bus ride back for them.

Re: Northeastern 2012-2013 Season Thread: A New Hope

Pretty sure I saw something on Twitter that said the team was leaving Thursday night to head out to Amherst.

Re: Northeastern 2012-2013 Season Thread: A New Hope

This is a potentially historic storm so getting back Friday night is almost a guaranteed no. Driving in 3 inch/hour snow with 50 mph gusts is not happening.

Re: Northeastern 2012-2013 Season Thread: A New Hope

Its only historic because we haven't had snow in 2 years....

There is at least a moderate potential for over two feet of snow. There have been 4 storms officially recorded to deliver two feet in Boston. That's historic potential.
