Northeast Regional: Boston University, Yale, UMD, Minnesota

Re: Northeast Regional: Boston University, Yale, UMD, Minnesota

I will say that is basically internet fodder gone amok.

All I *can* say is that there are problems behind the scenes.

Why can't you?

Two and half hours until gametime...hurry clock!

Because they are soft. That happens when you field a team of 90% entitled rich kids...

Uh, hate to break it to you but hockey ain't cheap and that's across the board, including the players on UMD. Also Lucia hasn't been recruiting one and dones for a few years now.

Sorry to hear about your wife. That's nasty stuff; hope she recovers soon. But there were a lot of folks who were very tired and hungry by the end of the game. Aside from the lackluster effort, I didn't find any of the usual outrageously overpriced gourmet stuff. Just overpriced ordinary stuff like $4.25 hot dogs.
My good thoughts for you guys as well. The arena temperature must not have helped. I am wearing way more clothing today. Last time we hosted there was a Mexican burrito bowl or something like it that resembled non-arena food, but not yesterday. It may be the lack of UNH, but beyond that, it really seemed something was missing. The score board ads, the lack of other game video or even score updates. It seemed like the NCAA didn't give a crap and is ready to move this round back on campus.

Re: Northeast Regional: Boston University, Yale, UMD, Minnesota

Good game last night, UMD. I started the recorded game late. When UMD went up 2-0, I , in a cowardly manner, hit that fast forward button like it was going out of style, and when it became 3-0, I flew. I just couldn't take it. Anyway, good on ya, Duluth and go knockém dead.

Re: Northeast Regional: Boston University, Yale, UMD, Minnesota

Exactly. I don't think this Gopher team was any more entitled than other teams (besides their usual tArrogence of course)

I've thought the Gophers have shied away from getting the guys the come and go for one year. You see it in guys like Rau. From my reasoning this Gopher team just didn't have the chemistry of a title winner. It happens. I do think they are adjusting to the big 10 schedule and not having every single team gunning for them in their "game of the year". It's pretty comical to me that a team that won its conference and playoff is still a disappointment. Goph fans should be happy they even did those things because in Jan it looked like they'd miss the NCAA's.

To blame this flameout on old issues that program had seems silly to me.

I think the only reason why this is a disappointment is that there was massive exceptions on this team. Given all the loses the other teams sustained due to early departures and seniors the Gophers had much of the nucleolus coming back they were the clear favorites to win it all. They played well down the stretch, but NCAA title or bust was the expectation and when you get wipe out of the tournament with sloppiness and being outworked it doesn't sit well. The great teamwork they had last year should have carried over, but it didn't except for the power play. Got to give Scott Sandlin a lot of credit, he got his team to execute a perfect shutdown plan against the Gophers four times this year and Lucia couldn't get his team to adjust. Within the next week the team might be down 10 or 11 members with half of them being key players. This might be Lucia's worse coaching job with a lot of players who relied on their talent to much. I'm going to miss Rau, 100% effort guy. Good Luck to the Bulldogs against BU the more MN teams in Boston for me to cheer for the better.

Congratulations are in order to Scott Sandelin and MN Duluth. You decisively defeated MN Minneapolis and I am intrigued with your next matchup. (In the good old days Scott and I golfed a few times in the "pack" on Sat. morning, a couple 8 handicappers.) Good luck Duluth.

This is not UNH's fault, they don't deal with things like the concessions and ads other than to remove it. The NCAA has twice in the past four years made the Xcel Energy Center a ****ty place to watch hockey. The place that is often regarded as the greatest hockey arena in the world and yet the NCAA can make place feel like a lifeless hockey tomb.

I am currently at the east regional BC game which has goal judges. Can anyone explain why there were no goal judges for the northeast regional Yale BU game?

I don't want to get specific and burn my sources. So, I will give general situations, and that's it.

Re: Northeast Regional: Boston University, Yale, UMD, Minnesota

ylae was a tight nailbiter. but this game is skating off the hook for that 'tense game' feeling.

and goal!

Re: Northeast Regional: Boston University, Yale, UMD, Minnesota

Wonder how much these teams don't like each other. (Beyond the usual.) On TV it looks like some tusslin'.

Re: Northeast Regional: Boston University, Yale, UMD, Minnesota

It's playoff hockey. I don't know that it's animosity between the teams/players per se, just a good amount of knowing what's at stake here and how to go after it hard.

Which is nice to see out of BU, I was concerned the youth factor would make that sort of thing elusive in the playoffs.
