Northeast Regional: Boston University, Yale, UMD, Minnesota

Re: Northeast Regional: Boston University, Yale, UMD, Minnesota

I get the feeling that the UMD-Minnesota fans are going to turn this thread from "The Honeymooners" to "that awkward dinner at your friend's house where his mom says that she wants a divorce, and you try hiding behind your mashed potatoes."

Not quite...in the end, the house is burned to its foundation.

no, we are going to point out that they are our little sister to the North, and they are going to point out they have one National Championship more recent than our 5.

Re: Northeast Regional: Boston University, Yale, UMD, Minnesota

Totally agree, however I am stoked for that 2nd game. The only way it could be better is drinking a beer while watching.

Got it. It's great for US. My point was, though, that only a fraction of the people that would otherwise go will be able to. It's like putting BC/BU in Grand Forks. How many would go? How many would care? I know if the situation were reversed, I would be upset. And I won't say I feel "bad" for their fans (because I would get lambasted), but in a way I do. Not to mention, being pragmatic, I don't get the point. Why does the NCAA keep trying to nationalize a REGIONAL sport? We've gone over this every year. Why do they force feed things down my throat? Yes, I'll be able to see it because it happens to be in the same regional as my team. Would I fly 1000 miles to see Minn/UMD? No. Would they fly 1000 files to see BU/BC? No. Does the NCAA understand that they are not going to even get 6,000 people in Manchester? Do they UNDERSTAND THAT??? BU didn't bring 5,000 to BOSTON (two miles away from their campus)!!!!! So is Yale going to bring 5,000? Where is the gate going to come from? That's my point...

Meh. That's more fun with UND fans than you guys. I'll just mention how the only time we lost to you guys this year, is the first game where UMD forgot the season started in the first period not the second.

Re: Northeast Regional: Boston University, Yale, UMD, Minnesota

If any Duluth or Gophers fans are making the trip...remember there is an airport in Manchester, NH with service from Southwest.

you lost the first game, and you're going to lose the last. OK by me.

That's pretty good, although the 6 years since BU's title puts a bit of strain on the word "recent".

chit... two months ago mookie was suffering through "dynasty" talk even though the patsies last sb win was a decade ago :p

Joining you in Manchester Mookie on Friday...looking forward to that Minnesota and Duluth showdown

Surprisingly it's not okay with me.

How messed up would the brackets be? Bracket integrity wouldn't be a thing. One could argue that the bracket integrity would be even worse than this years. ;)

Closest hotel to the VWA, easy walk: http://www.radisson.com/manchester-...9L3HvMQCFeXm7Aod1QIAPA&s_cid=se.ggl.rad_cmp15

2nd closest hotel, < 10 minute walk, request a room with a ball park view: http://hiltongardeninn3.hilton.com/...en-inn-manchester-downtown-MHTDTGI/index.html

3rd closest, probably the price performer, walking more than once would be tedious, some OK restaurants near by, a sketchier part of town: http://www.comfortinn.com/hotel-manchester-new_hampshire-NH002#listpos1

There are several hotels near the airport which is a 10 minute drive from downtown.

Arena parking is available in private lots, probably for $20. Street parking is less expensive. We mostly use kiosks not meters. I've lived here forever and can't quote the parking regulations from memory. The rules, including time limits, are tighter closer to downtown. I believe you must pay until 8 PM. Parking violations will be ticketed.

There is a wide variety of eating and drinking establishments down town, all extremely walkable from the 1st hotel above, not bad from the second hotel. Food and bevvie info to follow.

Welcome to the Queen City!

I understand giving the 1 seed more time to rest but, BU vs. Yale at 2pm. 2 PM that means everyone around here can't even go into work for a half day. UMD and UMN playing later so there fans have more time to still not get here. I will be shocked if Manchester Draws 5,000 people on Friday.

Re: Northeast Regional: Boston University, Yale, UMD, Minnesota

Does anyone know the size of the Verizon Wireless Arena? Is it NHL size or Olympic? Would prefer Olympic as Gophers do better on larger sheet of ice.

Thanks

Re: Northeast Regional: Boston University, Yale, UMD, Minnesota

Says the fan of a big 10 team...

Sadly, I don't expect much of a crowd for the 2pm game. While BU and Yale are "local", having the game at 2pm on Friday probably cuts the "local" attendance by 1/2. I know a whole bunch of Yale folks (myself included) who would have worked 1/2 day Friday then driven up for the game in the evening, or would have gone on Saturday. If they are worried about attendance how in the world do you have the game at 2pm.

By the way, anyone looking to fly in I suggested checking Southwest.
