:p Wouldn't surprise me. My best guess is he was waiting for Duluth to touch the puck to make sure that Dell put the net back on its moorings

UND had the puck in UMD's zone and the UND net was off it's moorings - I think by a UMD guy. Supposedly, UND had a guy in the UMD crease when the whistle was blown, but the faceoff stayed in the zone.

Not a clue how either of those or an inadvertent whistle lead to a UMD zone faceoff.

I'm not sure what got the whistle in the end but I'm guessing he wasn't going to give Duluth the benefit of a stoppage when Duluth player took the net off alone and was caught behind the play and the net being off had no effect on the puck going the other way with the Sioux already being on the pp. It was kinda odd though. Never seen that before.

We have been scored on before on a similar play by Mankato. Net comes off, official lets it go, puts the net back on without blowing the whistle, puck is skated into UMD's end, and the purple Mavs score. Rule is if the net is off, you blow the whistle. Consistent enforcement of the rules has always been a challenge for the WCHA officials.

I've seen an official put it back on also like that but never seen the goalie having to put it back on.
