North Dakota @ Denver: 2/24-2/25 - Let the Rivalry Renew!

Re: North Dakota @ Denver: 2/24-2/25 - Let the Rivalry Renew!

Being mentioned in passing is not taking over a thread, my braindead friend.

You just did it again. Although this time it was a more passive implication. Move on already! :p

Okey dokey. Since you are so interested in this thread, I can only assume you care deeply about UND. Therefore I'll ask you a question. After UND sweeps this weekend, what do you think the chances are they'll host the Screaming Eagles two weeks in a row? I say not good since UND will obviously sweep them next week. What say you?

First I think your initial assumption is off because I call a split. The way I figure it, SCSU will come to town after you sweep the purple cows as the donuts edge you out by one point in the end. So I do agree that it is not likely to host them two weeks in a row.

Re: North Dakota @ Denver: 2/24-2/25 - Let the Rivalry Renew!

Intersting how our team can take over a thread with very little interjected by our own fans.

I've never seen gopher fans interject much in any thread, including their own.

As a fan of College Hockey (has had kids, nephews and inlaws who played all over the WCHA, Gophs, UND, UW) I dont quite follow your "championships" remark. They have 5 NCAA's and 2 pre-ncaa championships. They went back to back just prior to DU going back to back. How many championships is required to thump their chest? As you're calling out a fanbase for being arrogant (UND and UM), you're sounding pretty arrogant yourself chappy.

Now on topic: I like UND's chances this weekend, no team turns it on during the home stretch like the Sioux.

I didn't call anyone out. That phrase assumes that I'm criticizing. I'm not.

And yep. I'm arrogant. Thanks for noticing. Chappy. :)

How hard will MacWilliam have to hit one of the Jelly Donuts for jelly to come out? What flavor will it be? Hopefully not lemon. Lemon is just terrible.

Sioux Sweep

The jelly donut is a thing of the past, my good man.

I was laid over in Denver for a while on Tuesday and picked up a copy of the Post to pass some time. There was an article in there by some bigshot hockey writer who obtained a quote from Gwoz about the upcoming series against UND. In response to one of those "keys of the game" type questions, Gwoz said, "well, you know, the guys just have to get out there and do their best not to get their *****es kicked." Surprising candor from the coach and a nifty bit of investigative reporting.

He was sandbagging. North Dakota doesn't have a chance and he knows it. :)

what's left is a bunch of old guys who sit around watching Gunsmoke reruns between naps and fondling their autographed Goldwater photos.

As a DU fan and an AARP member, I am completely offended by your remarks. DU fans watch Andy Griffith reruns, geeeezz!!!

As cool as it is that the game is nationally televised, I HATE 8pm starts. The game will not get over until probably 10:45-11:00, and then I have a 30+ minute drive back to Castle Rock. Oh well, I guess it gives more time to pre-game.

What are you complaining about, the game starts for me at 10 PM and won't be over until 12:45 to 1 AM. ;)

Yeah, but I'm younger than you. :p:D:D

If I was at home, I wouldn't mind...I just prefer that when I go to games, that they start at 7.

Re: North Dakota @ Denver: 2/24-2/25 - Let the Rivalry Renew!

I can out-whine both of you...
Late start Friday, 1:15 hour drive back home to Timnath, Saturday up at 06:00 to drive two hours to Gould to race 10k classical in the annual Gould Ski Scramble and flout the Boone jersey, although sadly, not win this year, back home, back for Saturday game...Sunday, sleep in.
out of the twenty years we have been racing at Gould, there has been one year when there hasn't been a home series. We used to give away the Friday tickets, but the donee has left the state. Most of the time the game is against the UNDies too.

Yeah, you got me beat. :) That being said, I have to write a trial court brief on Saturday.

West Coast choices.:
1. Don't open wine until game begins at 7:00pm--seems unusually harsh to wait so long on game day
2. Open wine at cocktail time 5:00pm--possible, but what if there is an early game on tv???
3. Open wine at 4:00pm Friday cocktail time--will probably have to open a 2nd bottle

Whine, Wine, Whine!

I see nothing wrong with any of these choices. :D

Hey, does that mean you're the guy from Iron Eagle? That's a pretty good reason to be arrogant, so I approve. Nice work, Chappy.

From Twitter:

College Hockey fans: NBC doubleheader Friday - BU-Vermont with Ron Vaccaro/Ken Hodge, NoDak-Denver with Gord Miller/Kerry Frasier.

There should be some interesting commentary in that first game.
