Since we're not permitted to talk actual hockey on game threads until Wednesday, I'll just say it should be a fun weekend. I assume the Sioux will give a stick salute after Saturday's game to celebrate the sweep, since Sioux fans will probably outnumber Pio fans. Or at least it will seem that way, with so many Pio fans napping, over-medicated, or just too infirm to stand and yell. How can you get upset at fans like that?

Ah. Poor usage. When I said they have the Champions to back it up I actually meant North Dakota. That was not intended as a slight on UND at all. You won't find too many DU fans who don't know exactly where we stand all-time in NC's compared to Michigan UND and Minnesota.

Your usage was fine, duper, I understood you meant UND has 7. It was my poor usage--I meant to point out that Gopher fans (at least DUBBS) would say they too have 7 banners.

Goon brought it up on his blog, but I'd been wondering would the WCHA be foolish enough to send Todd Anderson to ref a DU-UND game?:eek:

Can't wait - have tickets for both night. Possibly bringing out the toga for 1 last game. My last DU home series as a bachelor.:D

As a fan of College Hockey (has had kids, nephews and inlaws who played all over the WCHA, Gophs, UND, UW) I dont quite follow your "championships" remark. They have 5 NCAA's and 2 pre-ncaa championships. They went back to back just prior to DU going back to back. How many championships is required to thump their chest? As you're calling out a fanbase for being arrogant (UND and UM), you're sounding pretty arrogant yourself chappy.

Now on topic: I like UND's chances this weekend, no team turns it on during the home stretch like the Sioux.

I just want the Sioux to do what they have to, in order to get to the X this year (if possible-maybe 23 can fill me in on what has to happen).

I'm guessing the committee will have to place them there. That is generally how it works....:D

If the Gophers make the tournament they will automatically be placed at the X, as the host school, so if that would pose a first round matchup between UND and UM, then UND would be sent elsewhere to avoid the inter-conference matchup in the first round.

Being mentioned in passing is not taking over a thread, my braindead friend.

How hard will MacWilliam have to hit one of the Jelly Donuts for jelly to come out? What flavor will it be? Hopefully not lemon. Lemon is just terrible.

It depends on if you are talking about the Final Five or the NCAA Tournament. Their best shot at the F5 is to get home ice, then obviously win 2 of 3 there. As for the NCAAs, gopher wes brought up the best explanation really. If Minnesota and North Dakota both make the NCAA Tournament and are 1) the same seed, 2) Minnesota is a #2 while UND a #3, 3) Minnesota is a #3, while UND is a #2, 4) Minnesota is a #1, while UND is a #4, or 5) Minnesota is a #4, while UND is a #1 then UND will not be at the X. If Minnesota fails to make the tourney, or if one of the previous 5 situations does not happen, then I would say there is a good chance UND is at the X for the NCAAs. Obviously, we won't really know until the Sunday after the Final Five.
