North Dakota at UNO - 1-30/1-31 - The biggest series in UNO program history

Re: North Dakota at UNO - 1-30/1-31 - The biggest series in UNO program history

Don't you mean lost to eventual state champion? Hockey is good in this state any team could win. They beat might tUMD and the number one team in the nation in the Good Mavs.

What a lousy state.

Re: North Dakota at UNO - 1-30/1-31 - The biggest series in UNO program history

I will admit it was quite the accomplishment for a terrible Omaha team to come into REA and get one whole tie against the Mighty Former Sioux. Then since UND was feeling extra generous that night they even allowed UNO to win the shootout. This feat, even though it was gifted to them, has to be the highlight of the season thus far for the fake Mavs.

Hmmmmmm...........I wonder what team authored up the worst defeat in the history of North Dakota hockey at Ralph Engelstad Arena, the first time they EVER set foot in the building to play a game there, and allowed the opposing team's record for power play goals in a period that still stands to this day?

I know which poster has the record for most posts talking about that game. I'm guessing you guys hung a banner for that game as well?

We'll hang our hats where there is a hook to hang them.

I'll also qualify by saying that every D-1 team in America would love to play North Dakota every season.

We are now the only team that gets them, home and way, every season.

Re: North Dakota at UNO - 1-30/1-31 - The biggest series in UNO program history

Players are going to be more motivated for certain games. In previous seasons, there was no reason for North Dakota players to care about games against UNO. So UNO fans citing the fact that the team has done well against North Dakota is kind of meaningless.

Not if that continues this weekend is isn't.

Re: North Dakota at UNO - 1-30/1-31 - The biggest series in UNO program history

I hope that's a joke and people aren't that ignorant on purpose. UNO has ranked in the top 5 consistently in attendance for D1 hockey. We will be in a new barn next fall that seats 8,000 and will consistently sell out.

People like Vaudville acts...

Re: North Dakota at UNO - 1-30/1-31 - The biggest series in UNO program history

These are usually good games. If one team wins the weekend it will have the inside track to the Penrose. Both teams are currently looking good for the NCAA tournament. I can hear the rolling coolers starting to head down I-29.

As for there being no radio or TV ads for the series, I'd also add that it's not 1999.

Have fun, everybody.

Thanks for making an appearance. Jeez, when is the last time you made a post here?

You're assuming that we have a trophy case.

There actually IS one. It's just inside the North entrance to the Clink, right by my seats. It isn't a "stunner".

Guess the RedMavs drew the shiort straw.;)

They apparently think we hate them on some level. There isn't much basis for doing so. Hell, we have a winning record in their building if you count our shoot-out win earlier this season up there, which is, right now, looming mighty large in the current standings. IMHO opinion, some of the greatest ever UNO regular season games in UNO history include games with them on 11-19-10 (the greatest UNO home game I have EVER seen and UNO lost this game) as well as on 11-20-10, which usurped the precious night, as well as games on 12-9-11, and the game earlier this season on 11-28-14 when we, "ahem", tied them in Grand Forks

Better still, there is a significant portion of their fanbase that covets our head coach, which makes it hard for them to have anything but warm fuzzies for us.

They should be grateful that we tolerate their puking in our streets (this is no exaggeration) when they come down here to play us or that we let them subject us to the the worst embarrassment and fiasco in the history of our program, otherwise known as our outdoor game here in 2013 with them.

Thanks to Coach Blais, we seems to be forever tied at the hip to them unless Dave Hakstol "figures it out" and makes UND fan forget Coach Blais on some level, which does not seem terribly likely after 11 seasons

Re: North Dakota at UNO - 1-30/1-31 - The biggest series in UNO program history

It's nice how UNO fans most memorable games are ones that are completely forgettable to fans of a real team. The fact that the Crap Mavs' best games are random regular season games just reaffirms that they are the Crap Mavs. It's almost enough to make me feel sorry for them. To be a fan of them and have to live an existence like that just seems incredibly depressing.

Says the Minnesotan who for some reason chooses to live in Fargo, North Dakota.

Until I move to Moorhead. I'll make the state even lousier.

In fact, just the opposite is true.

UNO has no track record of any real success in college hockey (besides fan support that is rivaled by few schools) and everything we accomplish is pure gravy to us. Because its all new and uncharted waters on the accomplishment side of things. If you have very little and have never gotten very much, you appreciate the little things and what you do get.

And, right now, we're getting a new, state-of-the-art arena, have a head coach that has actually won titles, currently have the greatest recruiting class in the history of the program, are #5 at this stage of the season in the meaningless polls, are #3 in Pairwise, and, despite having little real hockey legacy, we get to do all this playing in the premiere hockey league in the country while being the rival/travel partner of one of the most desirable opponents to have on your schedule there is and get to play them 4 times per year, every year.

Yup, that is all quite depressing.

Glass half full, not half empty.

What else we got, man? A loss to Michigan in the NCAAs? Come on, let us have something we can celebrate.
