Chuck should just call them the UND Chicago 'Hawks during the PA announcements Friday night.

Well, at least all this "voting" stuff is finally over. It's been hard to watch UND's longstanding association with fascism be so vigorously trampled upon.

Amusing to see fans of a school with an unoriginal nickname who stole from a pro hockey team chastise a school for picking an unoriginal nickname and stealing from a NHL team.

We've stolen our logo from a an NHL, the rest is ours. UND just keeps going back to the same well over and over again for their logos, jersey designs, goal celebration song, and now mascot. It's just so lazy.

And to be fair, we've started to go away from that logo to a new logo. And its HIDEOUS. So we shoulda just stuck with theft rather than come up with something original and terrible.

I realize you have an education from St. Cloud, but not all hawks are Blackhawks. Also UND has had original jerseys for nearly 25 years, please stop living in the past.

A little bird (not a hawk) tells me Gordon Bombay has filed an injunction to block the fighting Hawks name from being used. UND now falls within the District 5 boundary since they were redrawn by the NCAA.

Good point. Instead of having a Native American logo UND should have had a Kangaroo or something. You wouldn't want people who are easily confused to get confused. Plus a kangaroo logo would've made perfect sense with the Sioux nickname.

How long before a "fawk you NCAA" shirt shows up at the ralph?

Will the fawks get a mascot? If so, will it be hostile and abusive?

Good point. Instead, of a kangaroo, your school could've taken the time to think of a Native American themed logo that wasn't taken directly from a professional team's logo. We copied one with only the slightest of edits, but we own up to it and don't find ways to excuse what our school did.

Actual question: Why would the UND Alumni Association and Foundation retain the name "Sioux Awards"? It seems sort of counter productive, doesn't it?

It will be some stupid mascot comparable to Blizzard the ambiguously gay and genderless dog, something like hawkeye or beaky and everyone will throw $10 beers at it until Robert Kelly institutes martial law in the arena to keep everyone politically correct. The only song between whistles will be Beyonce's put a ring on it, hard alcohol will be served in 1oz increments, fans can only dance or act excited for dance cam, cheering will be reduced to golf claps, and the beer will be 3.2%. Basically it will be Mariucci Arena North with beer and wine spritzers.......and fans.

This opens the door for "North Dakota Hawkey" to become a thing. Whether or not that is good is up to you.
