For those of you who can get it, FSN-Wisconsin will televise the Oct. 7 season opener Cats at Badgers at 8:00 eastern.

Whether it matters or not, I'm suprised by the size on NMU's roster this season. Hopefully these big boys know how to use it and can skate as well. If so, we should match up pretty well with anybody.

It is a much taller team this season and those tall guys have some bulk. I feel small at 6-0, 198 in that locker room.

You have to remember that a lot of that size is very young.

And there is the news. WMU will be headed to the NCHC, and they're taking SCSU from the new WCHA.


Funny how the NCHC is just the old WCHA without MTU and UAA...

They will be welcome with open arms in the new CCHA to be the basement dwellers once again.

After going to Denver this coming weekend, then back to Marquette the following weekend, I don't think Madison is in the cards budget wise. Besides, if I have to go to Wisconsin, I want to make sure it's a quick trip to the the * out of there.

SCSU and Western heading for the NCHC really changes the dynamics of the new WCHA. If this new conference proves viable, the 'Cats should be a major force

Hey everyone! Thought I would take a moment to comment and to introduce myself. I live in Wisconsin, graduated from NMU in '06 and I look forward to participating in the forums and to offer any info I have. Since I am about 7 hours from MQT, I am really excited for the possibilities of going to road NMU games, especially since they are joining the WCHA:)

Anyway, I am planning on going to Madison on the 7th and possibly the 8th for the games. Was there 2 seasons ago when the swept Wisconsin at the Kohl Center which was pretty awesome! Just wanted to let everyone know tickets went on sale TODAY at www.uwbadgers.com for Wis-NMU games. I will probably be joining my family for the games, who will unfortunately be wearing red and white, but me of course (grew up in Wisconsin, but will always be an NMU backer first!)

Anyway, I thought I would share info on the alumni reception after the game on the 7th. Apologies if this has already been posted! :)

Preseason polls got NMU finishing 6th (Coach's) or 7th (Media)...

Seems about right to me... This seems as it's going to be one of those years where the team in Oct. is vastly different from the team in March... We have a few bugs that will need to be worked out before Christmas, like who our goalie is... Main thing is that we are once again a young team and need to learn who is going to step into what role... I want to say 16 wins with all my heart, but I feel that we could fall short of that... I wouldn't bet against this team in March however...

I'm putting them down for 20 regular season wins.

DaveyD, I'm with you on that and could see them as high as 3-4th in the final standings. I think 6-7th place is the lowest they will finish as well.

what's the deal with Gregor Hanson's brother Gregor, coming to NMU? I heard rumors to the effect that he wasn't coming (thanks to mwellens for the great coverage in the Mining Journal).

Yea, he will be with the Cats at a later date... This season, he will be in the USHL with the Dubuque Fighting Saints...
