NMU Wildcat 2011 Offseason

Re: NMU Wildcat 2011 Offseason

OK, thanks NMU fan. I still find it very strange why every other school has their roster posted online, and not NMU. Perhaps just some paranoia setting in or dementia in my mind.

Alaska-Fairbanks doesn't have theirs posted yet, and the CCHA site doesn't have any rosters posted. No need to get paranoid or demented. Why would you be anyway?

Re: NMU Wildcat 2011 Offseason

From what I can figure out between Heisenberg and other resources, the following freshman kids are all eligible to play:
Mitch Jones (D), Jake Baker (D), Eric Walker (D), Ryan Daugherty (F), DJ Vandercook (F), and Dylan Walchuk (F).

We also get transfer students: Mitch Taurence and Matt Thurber.

Maybe Hanson needed the year to get through the clearinghouse. Stranger things have happened.

*edit* I think that it should be Nate Taurence, not Mitch. Let me do some digging.

Is Ryan Aynsley still coming?

Where is Taurence from and is he eligible this year?

Re: NMU Wildcat 2011 Offseason

Alaska-Fairbanks doesn't have theirs posted yet...

I don’t believe Fairbanks posts a roster until classes have officially started.
Don't you folks watch TV? It’s too easy to get eaten by a bear, swept overboard, crushed by a dredge bucket, run over by a big rig, or fall in a crevasse to count on everyone making here in one piece. We wait and see who shows up.

LOL! Hey as long as the Alaska state troopers are on the job everybody is safe.:)

Regarding Aynsley, my magic 8 ball says yes, but he'll be redshirted most likely.

Taurence is a "local" kid (played for the NAHL Rangers) transferring from St. Scholastica, and since it's D3, he should be good to go.

Thanks for the info.

I wonder if Walt will want to redshirt Aynsley. I believe he's already 21. He (Aynsley) might not want to stick around that long.

Of course his only alternative might be pumping gas somewhere.:)

Re: NMU Wildcat 2011 Offseason

If Gerard Hanson is in fact going to the USHL, I'm wondering if it's a numbers thing. Walt might be thinking it would be better for him to get lots of ice time and get acclimated to the U.S. for a year instead of getting limited playing time or being redshirted here.

Just a thought.

Re: NMU Wildcat 2011 Offseason

No Hanson listed on the roster, which has been added to the school's page. However, there are only 19 names on the roster. I somehow feel there is more than that.
I didn't think Hanson 2.0 was supposed to be arriving this year.

Don't knock AST, they ACTUALLY got my guns back that were stolen from me in a respectable amount of time. Though I had to do all of the investigating and had to tell them who stole them and what house they were hidden in, they were at least nice enough to go get them for me.

Re: NMU Wildcat 2011 Offseason

The university can't post official complete rosters on its website until everyone is cleared, hence why basketball and hockey are missing freshmen and transfers still. They need to make sure all the paperwork is in, then double and triple check to make sure all the T's are crossed and I's are dotted. It's an NCAA thing.

Once everyone is cleared by compliance, sports information is given the OK to post the rosters.

As to avoid any confusion, NMU will wait until the roster is 100% finalized to post and not just add names as a player is ruled eligible.

Re: NMU Wildcat 2011 Offseason

The roster is up. Sam Muchalla is not on the roster. I wonder if it was the concussion issue.

Plus, no Ryan Aynsley. Oh well. Just 4 weeks left til faceoff!

Re: NMU Wildcat 2011 Offseason

Even though they won't be expected to contribute right away, I am looking forward to seeing a few of the new guys. Walchuk and Daugherty on offense. Baker on defense. Heck, just to see what Seckel can do for a full season would be nice. Plus, it'll be interesting to see where Wisconsin transfer Thurber will fit in.

Just 4 weeks from tonight!

Davyd, have the captains practices started? Do they have set times and days in which they practice? I try to get to at least one practice every year.

Re: NMU Wildcat 2011 Offseason

Captains practices are underway, though times vary due to class schedules, typically starting around 3-3:30. First official full practice with coaches is Oct. 1.
