NMU Offseason 2010

Re: NMU Offseason 2010

It's official. Joe Shawhan is the new assistant coach. I believe he'll do a great job.

I wish he were replacing Walt instead of Facca. Facca would have made a great great head coach for NMU, instead we lose him to Western. Oh how our once mighty program has fallen under the tutelage of the mighty Walter!!! Now we can't even compete with Western to keep our best coach!!!

Don't worry too much about your program. Joe knows the various Junior A and Prep leagues like few do. He is a great judge of talent and will be an awesome recruiter for you guys.

A real good hire by NMU.

Re: NMU Offseason 2010

Just talked to Rob and he wanted me to pass on a big thanks to NMU and the fans for all the support during his time at NMU. And how lucky NMU is to have, quote "the best coach in the country in Walt Kyle.

From my perspective this was an opportunity that Facca couldn't pass up and that the position is in great hands with Joe Shawhan.

Walt is one of the most hightly respected coaches in college hockey. Fire Walt Kyle has no valid reasons for his multitude of negative statements. The nonsense that is spewed by this individual borders on insane.

When can we start talking about some line combinations? I am very interested in the D pairings. Man, Olver for another year would have been nice!

Following up a bit on Flyers prospect camp. From http://www.phillysportsforums.com/forums/showthread.php?p=584989

Tryout Gregor Hanson may have been the biggest surprise for me. He's like 5'8 and plays like a water bug. Really quick first few steps and was buzzing. Biggest problem is that he's extremely small. Like I said, Zac Rinaldo almost Downied him. Had it connected, we'd be talking about little Gregor Hanson's hospital experience.

Also a short video of Gregor getting stopped on a breakaway at the camp. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R8_l4TPT398

That channel also has video of Stewart and Gus if you care to look.

Congrats to Dallas!

Interestingly, it says in the article that he scored the game winning goal for NMU in the 91 championship game. It was actually Plandowski.

I didn't think he had either, I just thought he was the star player on that team. Chalk it up to sloppy reporting I guess.

Re: NMU Offseason 2010

As long as Northern makes the Playoffs (CCHA and/or NCAA) and maintain being ranked they shouldn't worry to much about recruiting.

As for Coaching Walt's doing a great job.

Re: NMU Offseason 2010

Just saw this, someone at USCHO doesn't pay much attention to who your team is. Thought it was funny. Look at the web address. "scsu-uvm_gwg.jpg". Catamount, wildcat, whatever.

Shouldnt be hard. Every team makes the CCHA playoffs...yes...even Bowling Green.

Re: NMU Offseason 2010

Mike Santorelli has been traded to Florida.

I have a feeling he's another Rich Peverley, great in Milwaukee, never fit in Nashville, will thrive with the right NHL team. Hope he sticks with the Panthers come training camp.

Makes hating the Milwaukee Admirals a little easier now. :D
