NMU Offseason 2010

Re: NMU Offseason 2010

He may be the first born and raised in Marquette to be drafted.

Not sure though.

Re: NMU Offseason 2010

It's definitely great that Justin was selected. I would expect that, because he just turned 20, the Bruins will be more than happy to let him stay at NMU and let his game develop under Walt Kyle for at least another year.

Chad Dameworth was an Edmonton draftee in the supplemental draft, and Dhadphale (Dod-folly for your pronouncing needs) was selected in the regular entry draft.

Re: NMU Offseason 2010

God...looking at everyone who left NMU and the upcoming schedule, I'd be amazed if they win more than a dozen games this upcoming year.

Good grief, just when you think Walt might be leading the team into a brighter future, he goes and loses every single one of his top players.

Re: NMU Offseason 2010

All our top players are gone? Either you don't understand how the draft works, or Gustafsson and Olver were the only two top players on this whole team.

You read that Brown, Florek, and Hanson... Mr. Boot_walt_Kyle feels that you're useless.

Welcome to the offseason BWK. Shame you remembered your username and password.

Olver, Gustafsson and Stewie are the top three players on last year's team. They are all going to be gone. Brown, Florek and Hanson are going to have to step up and fill those shoes. I don't know if Walt can grow a team with such a high turn over

Re: NMU Offseason 2010

He's done pretty well for himself before. It's not like he wasn't expecting to lose Stewart. Ellingson, who has shown he is quite capable, will now have the reins.

I'm not counting on a break out year from Florek or Hanson; they will be the guys everyone will be gunning for allowing some other sophomore or junior to sneak in and score some points.

As for the blueline, other than Gussy, we really didn't have much that wowwed anyone... But that may be a good thing. I see a blueline by committee in that no roster spot is safe next year.

Next years schedule is more favorable too. Last years powerhouse teams are spread throughout the season; none of this front loading of the "Big10" type teams.

The "easier" start will mean that this may be the end of the 2nd half style team... It's risky though because losses to tOSU, LSSU, and BGSU could mean the loss of support from casual fans.

Being away from the university since graduation and seeing the pressures that minor league clubs go through to remotely try to be competitive, MQT residents should be glad for how steady this team is, and how it is rarely in such drastic high and low swings like LSSU, FSU, and now even MSU.

Yeah, too bad he couldn't offer Gustafsson to money the Flyers did, He really lost that one. Too bad he couldnt offer Olver enough money to stay either. Staying for another year would have done nothing for Olver but cost him money he could never recover.

A dozen wins? I got a hundred bucks that says they beat that. Care to wager? I doubt you have the stones to back your bark with a bite.

Davy, we've been over this, I'm a troll. I'm not going to back anything up. I'm going to show up every couple of months troll some doom and gloom stuff about NMU, insult some other teams and then get bored and disappear. I'll probably jet as soon as it warms up enough for me to get back on the beach.

Thought you and your band of merry men had disbanded and retired?

Re: NMU Offseason 2010

I just thought of the best promotion to get students into the seats at games.

FREE VUVUZELA NIGHT!!!!

You give every single student a vuvuzela at the door and they can blow them all game. Vevuzela fever has gripped America like never before and this season is the time to strike while the iron. The Berry will sound like a swarm of angry bees and the opponents will likely go MADDDDDDD from the noise.

Bzzzzzzzzz..................Bzzzzzzzzzzzzz...................Bzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz...........

What's that sound?

The sound of sweet sweet money pouring into the pockets of NMU on vevuzela night

Welcome to the year 2000. Vuvuzelas were available from the NMU Bookstore since I was a freshman. :p

And I don't see how the University would be making money on purchasing a gift to give to students who already get free tickets to the games. If anything, you'd lose money on both purchasing the horns, and paying fans who wouldn't come to games.
