NMU 2011-12 Season Thread

Re: NMU 2011-12 Season Thread

Season on the line tonight. Hopefully we can go 1:00 without giving up a goal. Not having watched or listened, I was surprised Ellingson stayed in. Even if he wasn't at fault, after going from 1-3 to 4-3 I thought a change would be made to shake things up. Coreau tonight?

Right, I was wondering the same thing, not so much about replacing Ellingson last night, but about who would play tonight. I think it will be Coreau. But, if we win tonight, is it time to stick with one goalie for however far along we can get? Any thoughts?

Also, the lines did not seem to be clicking at all last night--the guys seemed out of sorts, scrambling much of the game, probably because of the penalty trouble after we went up 3 - 1 early in the 2nd. Walt did try to mix at least one of the lines up later in the game, didn't he? Ludwig was the only one with a + rating in last nights game.

Hope the guys can step it up tonight and stay out of the p-box.

Re: NMU 2011-12 Season Thread

Well, it was mentioned by Dave that Coreau was fighting a flu bug, so that might have played a part in keeping Ellie in the game... Gotta think that he will be back tonight given the situation...

Ugh... Game 3's are cool when you are an underdog, but when you are a favorite, they suck... So nervous about tonight :(

Right there with you, feel the same way. Don't know if I want to watch, but I'll probably put down another $9 tonight for the A1 feed.

Whoever's in goal tonight, I hope they have a "stand on their head" performance.

Go 'Cats!!!

Re: NMU 2011-12 Season Thread

Season on the line tonight.

I wish I could be optimistic, but the season is over. Focus on the Mason Cup, but I don't see that working out for us (as usual). Really frustrating seeing the empty seats in the BEC. Marquette yet again proves why they don't deserve this team.

8405, don't feed the troll.

Re: NMU 2011-12 Season Thread

Great job Marquette, way to once again let this program down with your lack of interest and attendance.

Re: NMU 2011-12 Season Thread

Up and Down season. Hope they can rebuild for the 2012-2013 CCHA final year.

Nice posting with you all since I joined in November.

Who do I root for now? Maybe the Spartans or the Lakers. Not sure.

You do realize the amount of hockey played this weekend in MQT? I did not see NMU offer any deal to the eight 19U rec teams in town, nor anything to the Junior AAA team. NMU doesn't want to offer a deal ok how about advertising so they all knew about the games. Blame it on the community? Blame it on how it's addressed by NMU and I do not mean win, lose of quality of play.

Sorry nmu, always liked your boys and your fans. Must say I'm relieved to not have to worry about you beating us again.

Well, I liked all your fans except for this guy saying he's going to root for michigan state ;)

go redskins

The ticket prices for the CCHA playoffs are set by the league and NMU has nothing to do with revenue from the game, according to Dave Danis tonight. Something like that. So it would have been the CCHAs responsibility to drum up a crowd with special ticket pricing.

OK deal with admission any way you wish but not a single poster was at the tournament games. Slice it any way you want but eight teams from out of town, along with parents, and nothing was shown about NMU playing.

Re: NMU 2011-12 Season Thread

Wow, what an awesome season. Getting kicked around by the bottom feeder of the CCHA in a three game series seems to be about par for the course for Walt's teams. And seriously, were there even 1000 fans at the game, pathetic. After NMU moves to the new WCHA, I bet they can't even average 1000 fans per game for the whole season. Well Wildcat fans, enjoy NMU hockey while it lasts, because with the school's reluctance to get a grade A hockey coach, NMU will become Alabama Hunstsville in the next decade.

Ferris is offering deals for next weekend's series. However, that could be them buying the tickets and eating the cost reselling them to help get a crowd on spring break.

Yes I know the NCAA tournament is a very long shot but, what I took away from the bracket/pairwise thread is we want cornell and/or Merrimack to lose. Also we would want all other top seeds to win.

But the winner of LSSU/WMU will likely bounce ahead of us.

Re: NMU 2011-12 Season Thread

So...why did the 'cats lose? I remember Walt saying some of them were nervous during the series. Don't tell me BGSU is a good team either, although they had some strong showings towards the end of the year, they still finished dead last in the conference. No excuses, this is flat out unacceptable for this to happen, never mind two years in a row!

Re: NMU 2011-12 Season Thread

What is the best possibility for that series? I take it Lake State in 3, then they lose friday, or would that push them ahead still?
