Nice Plant #7: Get me off of this planet

Re: Nice Plant #7: Get me off of this planet

Well the autopsy showed no signs of Brown struggling with the officer. And the sources are NY Post and Gateway Pundit :straight face:

Ok, the first half of this is speculation based on whether or not the kid had injuries. An injury to the officer does not require Brown to also have injuries.

The second half I completely agree.

Okay, this whole Ferguson issue has long gotten insane... To add to the circus, I just saw this link posted by a friend on Facebook: http://www.alan.com/2014/08/18/ferguson-pd-video-backfires-brown-seen-paying-for-cigarillos/

Now, I had never heard of this site, nor do I side with their view, and there are still way too many unknowns and overreactions on both sides.

My theory: smart-*** teen mouthed off to the cop, cop flipped a switch having dealt with too many smart-assed teens, one of the two forgot the first rule of "Dirty Dancing" (this is my dancing space, this is your dancing space), combination of two hot-heads lead to the shooting.

The issue I have is with the rest of the department in pretending they're Airborne Rangers in Afghanistan. John Oliver hit home run after home run when lampooning the issue this past Sunday. These "trained" cops are pointing their weapons at civilians while walking up and down the street. Have things changed in firearms training? Growing up I was taught that you only point a gun at a target AND have your hand on the trigger if you are sure of your target.

These guys need to quit using the movies and TV shows about SWAT teams as documentaries.

Yeah I'm not saying Brown had to have injuries for the cop to as well, but nobody has seen the cop yet and the struggle bit doesn't make a whole lot of sense given where his body was found (like 35 feet away from the nearest vehicle) or any of the eyewitness accounts.

Anyhow it's not impossible, but I'd like to see a more credible source first obviously.

Here's the first problem with that site. They say that no robbery occurred because no one reported a robbery. You don't see the gap in logic there?

I don't see anything that resembles a wallet or a wadded up ball of bills. I seem him reaching over the counter (possibly pointing at what he was looking to buy or maybe grabbing what he could reach, you just can't tell). Then walking off.

It doesn't explain why the owner chased after him and Brown took up an aggressive stance and raised his arm at the clerk.

That was a theory others proposed as well. ie: Brown paid for the cigarillos but he had an expired license and the store owner tried to get the cigs back and closed the store to keep him there (which isn't exactly legal). Then obviously they didn't report this because they may have sold them to a minor.

In which case it wouldn't have been a "strong armed robbery" and gives further credence to the idea that the cop wouldn't have known about the gas station incident before approaching Brown.

***I fully admit this is all speculation***

Agreed. If the officer had a broken eye socket like that, he'd have one helluva black eye.

IF, and that's a big if at this point, the officer was indeed under attack like that, then shame on the police for not releasing this information earlier.

I thought it was fairly well-established that the cop didn't know about the "robbery". I thought he stopped the kids because they were walking in the middle of the street.

Yep, and I'm a perfect driver too because the "Your Speed Is:" machine on the highway last night said I was doing the speed limit. ;)

Like I said, I didn't agree with their stance; the whole thing turned into a circus, and everyone there keeps feeding it.

I still think that the Ferguson PD should have swallowed their pride a week and a half ago, admit that they don't have a f-ing clue, and turned the investigation over to the State Police or another department.

It was but then I thought the story changed to "Wilson saw the cigs in his hand" and then put 2 and 2 together etc.

Re: Nice Plant #7: Get me off of this planet

Huh. I hadn't heard that. Either way. I want to hear more about whether the cop sustained a serious injury. That's the most important thing to get the facts straight on right now.

Re: Nice Plant #7: Get me off of this planet

lulz.

I just did a Google News search for "darren wilson orbital" and the top three sources? Breitbart, NY Post, Examiner, and Newsmax.

Re: Nice Plant #7: Get me off of this planet

If you look at what is going on there, and think "no those ****ers don't need more policing" you're delusional. These people are so far out of line its sickening.

Whether or not I think the people need more policing is not my issue. The issue for me is the use of mercenaries.

Oh and of course the police are right in line are not nor will they do anything wrong. That is just at sickening line of thought.

Re: Nice Plant #7: Get me off of this planet

Even if he did sustain the orbital injury, Brown's body was a good 35 feet from the vehicle where the alleged confrontation supposedly occurred. Which would still likely be problematic for Wilson.

Re: Nice Plant #7: Get me off of this planet

The best defense against a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun. Everyone knows that.

To my knowledge, there has never been a public debate about flat-out repealing the Second Amendment and criminalizing firearms possession and sale. Leaving out the political calculations for a moment (I assume it would fail by a huge margin, as in around 80-20), what do people think would happen? What actual, substantive social changes would we see? Let's say the only exceptions were military personnel on duty, a small fraction of the police in special firearms units, and exemptions for communities that have hazards like, I dunno, freaking bears.

We're here! We're queer! We don't want anymore bears!
