Nice Plant #7: Get me off of this planet

Re: Nice Plant #7: Get me off of this planet

Obviously not but when a few bullets fly past your head you might say "warzone" or whatever comes to mind if you're not exactly experienced with that sort of thing.

Press was calling it a "war zone" long before the reports of shots fired.

And I thought it was a "stray bullet," not a "few bullets" flying past a head.

Keep trying to jam that square peg...

Re: Nice Plant #7: Get me off of this planet

Look if it is shown Brown was the aggressor one witness described I will change my tune fast, but I believe that account about as much as I believe Brown was as pure as the driven snow and shot cause he was black. Both are way too "perfect" if you catch my drift. (they prove the narrative to well) But I take deadly force pretty seriously and as such the burden of proof on the cop is very high.
Maybe in the court of public opinion, or even in a civil wrongful death suit, but not when it comes to criminal trial. There, the burden of proof is still squarely on the prosecution where it belongs, not on the defendant - his status as a cop has nothing to do with it.

Re: Nice Plant #7: Get me off of this planet

I guess I've gone to war several times then. Every November since I was 12...

I can't be a "war zone" though unless the deer were massed and facing you with signs (one with a deer x-ing sign, of course) chanting at you for "Bob" who you mercilessly gunned down the year before.

Ok fine, the reporters are all a bunch of ******** and overreacted to bullets flying past them. #internettoughguy

“Our officers came under heavy gunfire,” in one area, he said

To be fair if the person you're talking about was calling it a warzone before the shots that were fired, then you probably have a point and we can stop arguing about this. When I posted that yesterday though shots had been fired.

How stupid are these reporters for still being extremely biased toward the rioters even after the thugs were shooting at them! Idiots!

He's not being some "#internettoughguy", a warzone is a very specific thing. You're just posting like some #melodramaticinternethysteriaqueen.

Yeah, but if it does, then it has the added bonus of allowing us to rename Chicago "Gaza Strip West"
It's not like the residents of Roseland, Englewood, or Garfield Park are lobbing rockets into the Loop or Wrigleyville. They're just taking it out on themselves.

Re: Nice Plant #7: Get me off of this planet

I suspect this is a Missouri law we may hear quite a bit about in the coming weeks.

Why? It's not like deadly force would ever be an appropriate "means to effect the arrest," so that law does not in any way excuse unnecessary use of deadly force.

Note: for you perennial mis-readers, I did not say that there WAS or that there WAS NOT unnecessary use of deadly force in the Michael Brown case.

Melodramatic Internet Hysteria Queen is a good name for a band.

Re: Nice Plant #7: Get me off of this planet

Might be a good idea.

This thread is really going to turn into a **** storm if it turns out that a ballistics analysis reveals that Brown was shot from anywhere but close range.

No more than now. We've burrowed into our "blame the cop," "blame the victim" trenches for the duration of the war.

Re: Nice Plant #7: Get me off of this planet

If you're shooting someone are you really trying to effect an arrest? Not sure if that is relevant here.

Oh you just wait until there's a Cubs-Sox Worl....

BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHA. I couldn't even finish that sentence.

The statute obviously doesn't fit the "Cop does drive-by on teen" narrative. But I'm pretty sure we're going to hear the officer claim he was attempting to arrest Brown for something.

They've had a lot of time to get their story straight. And, of course, Brown can't speak for himself. At the end of the day, exonerated or not, Brown's dead, and exonerated or not, Wilson's alive. That's the asymmetry that legal lethal force leaves us. If it's legitimate Wilson walks and vaya con Dios. But if it's not, the Court doesn't have the power to resurrect Brown.
