Nice Plant #7: Get me off of this planet

Re: Nice Plant #7: Get me off of this planet

They didn't release the officer's name because of DEATH THREATS TOWARDS THE OFFICER.

I have no problem with THAT part of this whole fiasco.

Re: Nice Plant #7: Get me off of this planet

The problem is I think legally they're supposed to? I could be wrong about that.

Correct. We have something on this planet called protective custody. Place the officer and his family there if need be until the situation is resolved. Cost a lot less money then all this BS riot crap.

Re: Nice Plant #7: Get me off of this planet

The police chief said the incident at the convenience store had nothing to do with why Brown was stopped. The officer didn't even know about the robbery when he confronted Brown.

When asked by a reporter why he ever brought up the incident then, the chief answered, "Because that's what you asked for." Um...no, it isn't. What we wanted was some detail about why this kid was killed. What you did was character assassination of the worst kind.

Or just complete and utter incompetence.

I love lawyers, like Benjamin Crump, who rush to the scene of any race related issue

The family's attorney, Benjamin Crump, said Brown's parents were blindsided by the allegations.

"It's bad enough they assassinated him, and now they're trying to assassinate his character," Crump said.

An attorney for the teen who was with Brown on the day of the shooting said his client has acknowledged to investigators that Brown took cigars from the store.

Re: Nice Plant #7: Get me off of this planet

White people post pictures of themselves with guns all the time and no one cares. Hell, people at Bundy's ranch pointed weapons at the police. Remind me why it's OK for them to take pictures with guns and not for a black man?

"A white man with a gun is a patriot. A brown man with a gun is a terrorist. A black man with a gun is a corpse."

Let's assume this follows the 80/20 rule: 20 percent of the actors are causing 80 percent of the mischief. So, 80% of the Ferguson PD are good cops just doing their jobs, not knocking in people's fences or harrassing journalists or playing Tour of Duty on people holding candlelight vigils in their backyards. And 80% of Ferguson residents are good people reacting appropriately to the death in their community, protesting yes but not throwing Molotov cocktails (I'd love to know how many this means? 3? 300?) or looting the Food King. 20% of each group (I'm going to go out on a limb here and say "young males") are the baddies: eejit racist thugs on both sides who cause and delight in violence.

If so, then Ferguson has a crime problem that's bad, but it has a law enforcement problem that's horrifying. Cops hold coercive power as a public trust. They are held to a far higher standard of conduct. They have training to defuse, rather than incite, tense situations. And they should know better -- their sole reason for existence is public service. If they're in a position where it's them against the community, they've failed badly. If their concern is protecting themselves against the community, then they're not cops anymore, they're just another gang protecting its turf.

What's important is now Fox has video to run endlessly while they tell their audience the kid was a thug with gang ties.

Presumably they will suggest that Hillary murdered Michael Brown to take the focus off Benghazi. Hey, I'm not saying it, I'm just suggesting...

Re: Nice Plant #7: Get me off of this planet

Not a great source for any sort of news or opinion (for that matter, not a great source for anything but listicles with funny gifs), but nonetheless I thought this was an interesting take on the media portrayal from earlier this week:

http://www.buzzfeed.com/mrloganrhoa...nnedmedown-movement-changed-the-con?bftw=main

That's amazing. Thank you for posting.

People should read the Comments, too. It might open a few eyes.

Regardless of what they feel about this situation, everyone should realize how easily they can be manipulated by people who are deliberately choosing images to reinforce their narrative and their audience's expectations and biases. Anybody with a search engine can do it.

Gotta love buzzfeed. Too lazy to write an actual article so they just find a hashtag, post some pictures and captions, and call it a day

That said I like that they brought attn to #iftheygunnedmedown

Re: Nice Plant #7: Get me off of this planet

Funniest tweet I have seen about this whole mess:

Ferguson Police Chief Turns To Hannity for PR. I guess Charles Manson was to busy planning his wedding....

It was a false flag operation to distract from the border and ISIS. So was the Clinton/Obama "hug".

That's what buzzfeed does. Believe me, you don't want to see them attempt to actually write anything. Think Bleacher Report only less sophisticated.
