Nice Planet XI: Stop the World, I Want to Get Off!

Re: Nice Planet XI: Stop the World, I Want to Get Off!

Ugh. :( Awful all around.

I'm going to risk a really stupid question, so bear with me. How can people be killed instantly when they are shot? I can see it if the bullet just blows out your brain -- there's no control center left to tell your body what to do so you just fold up. But in most cases why wouldn't you just flail about for a while (albeit probably in extreme pain) and then fall when you've bled out to the point that no oxygen gets to your brain? Does the kinetic energy imparted by the bullet striking literally knock you over? Does the experience of being shot put you into shock?

I've asked the same question myself.

Stupid question #2 - I only watched the video once but once he was out of the vehicle what did he do to draw the fire? Was he grabbing for a weapon? Or did he already seal his fate when he plowed over someone with this truck?

He looked like he was reaching down into his coat for something, and that was what sealed his fate. Cops claim they found a handgun on him.

In this case I think it's reasonable for the police to assume he's armed. Dude said he wasn't going down without a fight, that sealed his fate.

Re: Nice Planet XI: Stop the World, I Want to Get Off!

Okay, fwiw, just got off the phone with my buddy who is former Chicago SWAT.

The officers could not shoot as the vehicle approached as they had protection and an avenue of retreat. In addition, if there are other people in the vehicle, they are supposed to protect those within and not shoot in the scenario that played out.

If the officers were standing in the road without the barricade, they could fire away regardless of additional people in the van as it then becomes a deadly weapon and a threat to their lives.

As soon as the vehicle nearly hit that one officer, regardless of the fact that the officer ran towards it, they could have opened fire.

They didn't.

He believes they did everything in that encounter by the book and gave the guy every chance in the world to not get shot.

I agree.

The guy in the woods was high support and there to cover the officers as they dealt with the suspects who were in the "box" formed by the barricade and the edges of the road.

Another cool thing about this guy as a friend (besides the best part that he's a great guy and I enjoy his company) is that he still has his firearms and owns a farm.

:D

More eejits.

Even as the arrested leader of the Oregon standoff has called for those who remain at the federal wildlife refuge to leave, an outside patriot group has issued a new "call to action" for "any and all Americans" to join the anti-government occupiers still at the facility.

Citing the shooting death of one of the standoff leaders in an encounter with law enforcement earlier this week, the Pacific Patriots Network posted the call to action on its website Friday.

More from the Dildo Rebellion.

The four occupiers who remain at the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge in Oregon say that they can no longer make calls or access the Internet.

Three of the remaining militiamen cannot make or receive calls, while David Fry, the group's self-appointed tech guru, can still receive incoming calls, according to Oregon Public Broadcasting.

In other words, if one cannot escape a threat, neutralize the threat.

Cop 101, IMO.

Donald Trump is a nominee for the Noble Peace Prize.

How?

Re: Nice Planet XI: Stop the World, I Want to Get Off!

Cliven Bundy gets the elusive hat trick.

While two of Cliven Bundy’s adult children are in jail for the armed takeover of the Malheur Wildlife refuge near Burns, Oregon, another son of the Nevada cattle rancher was sent to prison Wednesday, less than two weeks after being dropped from a specialty court program.

Bundy has 14 children so One-Eyed Frank McGee's record is in jeopardy.

I'll admit that reading this is the first time that reparations started to almost make sense to me.
