Re: Nice Planet XI: Stop the World, I Want to Get Off!

I'm lecturing people who think not being allowed to have the Ten Commandments in a courthouse is a "war." That was my only point, and I thought it was pretty obvious.

It wasn't and if that was your point, I will apologize.

Re: Nice Planet XI: Stop the World, I Want to Get Off!

What does that mean in this context?

Right now, given ISIS/etc...I'm ready to drill through glass.

They want the "end of days?" I think we can help with that. The cool Muslims, the ones that don't want to destroy everything? Hey, I'll buy you a milk or coffee or something.

It was my point, yes. I understand that in various parts of the world religion X is murdering religion Y and that's obviously war. Violence is war. Separation of church and state isn't war and people who say it is are idiots.

Westboro Baptist Church is in Missouri. Let's nuke the Midwest.

I'm good with getting rid of them, too. All they have down there is tornadoes. Oh, wait, they don't declare a jihad and kill a bunch of people. They are just loudmouths.

Re: Nice Planet XI: Stop the World, I Want to Get Off!

I'm not being good with my points tonight. This time my point was, hey, let's nuke an entire ****ing region because of a small bunch of *******s.

I consider myself to be a spiritual person. But I'm getting very close to your post above when it comes to religion. Even though it was in jest. I really hate what religion and especially what organized religion has become. I'd like to think if I'm right about there being a God that he would be if this mindset as well.

Jesse Ventura once said, "Organized religion is a sham and a crutch for weak-minded people who need strength in numbers. It tells people to go out and stick their noses in other people's business. I live by the golden rule: Treat others as you'd want them to treat you. The religious right wants to tell people how to live."

He took a lot of flak for this. I'm starting to see the wisdom in it. Especially the first sentence.

I agreed 100% right off the bat, and I was a junior in high school.

Overall though, he's still an idiot. Obviously. :)

Re: Nice Planet XI: Stop the World, I Want to Get Off!

A North Carolina town council approved a sweeping moratorium on solar power development after residents presented fears that solar panels cause cancer and drain the Sun's energy, leaving their town dark and devoid of plant life.

The Woodland Town Council was meeting to re-zone land for a proposed solar power project from Strata Solar Company. During the meeting, a retired science teacher raised concerns "that photosynthesis, which depends upon sunlight, would not happen and would keep the plants from growing," local newspaper The Roanoke-Chowan News-Herald reports.

She attempted to substantiate to her claim by adding that she had "observed areas near solar panels where the plants are brown and dead because they did not get enough sunlight."

I just, um... yeah, I got nothing. Both of those paragraphs are just mind boggling. The town's future students are in a better place now that she's retired from teaching The Natural Philosophies.

Re: Nice Planet XI: Stop the World, I Want to Get Off!

Of all the things posted in these threads over the years, this takes the cake. This 'science teacher' is either certifiable, or on the take. Nobody can be that stupid on purpose. Can they?
