Nice Planet X: I knew it, I'm surrounded by a-holes!

Re: Nice Planet X: I knew it, I'm surrounded by a-holes!

Yet you still refuse to answer my question. Why is it imperative to point out when a white murderer kills folks of color, but imperative not to mention race when it's the other way around? It's a simple question, and asking it in no way makes me a racist. But take your own advice, and spin away...I'll wait.

I'm not sure what you mean. Imperative to whom?

State what you're saying, then I'll address it. Otherwise you're asking me to guess what's in your head, or you're playing some (attempted) clever game at guessing what's in mine. Put away the Red State tactics for a moment and just state plainly what your point is. For all you know I might agree with you.

Was my initial question really that hard to understand? For someone who gets off on their own intellect, I would have thought you would easily grasp it. Several others on here sure seemed to get the point right away. Of course, you're likely just pretending at this point, hoping I'll say something else you can try to pick apart instead of actually following through with an answer for once. But alas, I'll try again:

Why does the media only report race when a white guy is the perpetrator, and his victim is of color? Other way around, and there's no mention of it. And before you try to spin what I'm saying, yes, there's been plenty of mention that this Virginia arsehat is black, but it's only in the context that he claimed to have been the victim of racism at work.

In every instance of white-on-black murder, every single mainstream news station (even our locals) start the story with "A white man...killed black people..." Every. Single. Time.

Why one way and not the other? Get it yet, smartypants?

First off, you should probably do something about that inferiority complex. I'm sorry if your SATs were low, but there are other ways to prove yourself in life, you know? Try knitting or something.

I don't believe the conservative talking point that this is some sort of active, intentional conspiracy by the media. AFAIK there's no actual data proving it about the "mainstream media." The only case of deliberate bias in coverage I know of for sure is the slew of knuckledragger sites that delight in reporting on every instance of black crime against whites:

http://conservative-headlines.com/2...o-longer-censor-black-on-white-crime-in-2015/
http://angrywhitedude.com/tag/black-on-white-crime/

(and a thousand more)

Those are motivated by sheer racism, pure and simple. I guess it's possible that there are lefty crank equivalents who have the same motivation -- somewhere there are probably still people who think Bobby Seale had the right idea.

There's one big exception, though: I can definitely tell you why it gets reported when white cops kill black people -- because that's part of a chronic problem of LEO racism.

Your links to lunatic fringe websites are amusing but irrelevant to my point. And if you truly don't think there's any evidence that the media follows the protocol I lay out, simply because you can't find hard data to prove it, then you're choosing to ignore what you are watching on a daily basis. Do you watch the network news? If so, can you honestly tell me that you don't notice the pattern of when race is mentioned vs. not mentioned? If you don't watch the news, than I guess ignorance is bliss. If you do, I was really hoping you'd come back with something other than, "Umm...I don't believe it, so it must not be true. But here, look at all these loony bin websites which have nothing to do with your point!"

It's so painfully obvious unless you're actively trying not to notice it.

While I agree the right has been captured by loons I didn't really expect you to confirm it.

The idea that blacks are killing whites with impunity is now a mainstay on the Republican rubber chicken circuit -- it just comes up after most of the cameras have left. Even otherwise intelligent people fall into this trap now. It's not just the bottom feeders -- the right is so deluded literally ANY idea can gain traction if it reeks of the right amount of resentment and vitriol towards the right sort of person. I wasn't kidding about MRA -- those guys seem like a natural Republican feeder system.

Plus, who knows? In the 70s, the bottom feeders were floating privatizing social security, ending the Voting Rights Act, and repealing birthright citizenship. Why? -- because the John Birchers and others were funded by a handful of deranged millionaires who kept those ideas circulating as the life blood of their small but completely brainwashed and/or well-paid groups of allies. Today, it's deranged billionaires, and the campaign laws have enabled them to bring their crazy right out into the open. Remember when the Randians and Austrian school blowhards were D&D-like groups of a half dozen middle aged adolescents meeting in the seedy reading room at the public library? Those guys today are being bought school board, state leg, and US House seats by the DBs. So why be surprised that along with the Gilded Age nostalgia the more hateful social and racial lunacy also starts leaking out from under the GOP flag pin?

Nowhere have I ever made this point, nor do I believe it. Nor am I a Republican. Neither one has anything to do with this argument.

I'm just going to resign myself to the fact that you simply can't put up a decent counter-argument to the topic at hand so you're resorting to your tired old tactics of deflect and distract. How disappointing.

In related news:

On the Chris Salcedo Show last week, the radio host asked Rep. Pete Sessions (R-TX) to weigh in on the horrific shooting on live TV of two journalists in Virginia. After acknowledging that widespread gun violence is a daily occurrence in the United States, Sessions zeroed in on what he viewed as the real cause.

“It has a lot to do with distrust of people. Chris, I have been in lots of societies, we could say like Japan, where they have a homogeneous society, where people are more alike,” Sessions said. He went on to discuss “this thought process that we have to have diversity in America.”

Just avoid conversing with Kepler, it isn't worth it to bring yourself down to his level.

Re: Nice Planet X: I knew it, I'm surrounded by a-holes!

Dylan Roof's motive was pretty obvious, not a lot of question as to why he did what he did and it was clearly motivated by racial hatred. In the case of Vester or whatever his name is, he does mention the race war thing but then he also glorifies the Columbine and VT massacres, rants about his sex life, perceived racism within his news org etc. Of course mainstream news reported all of these things and I still don't understand the poutrage.

C'mon Kep. You're better than this. You probably took your SAT's during the Carter Administration. At this point in your life your PSA score is more important than your SAT score. :p

Mine was Nixon. mid 1200's.

Since prostate cancer killed Dad (61), Grandpa (58), and his brother (<60) and I just turned 60, you betcha MY PSA score is very important!

I was going to retort, but I did actually take my SATs during the Carter administration. :)

Note that when dealing with his adolescent inferiority complex I was speaking his language, not mine. My measure of human worth is to what degree you have materially contributed to the success of Cornell hockey. So, Schafer > Gandhi.

You must love your fall guy - Clarkson. :) :(

Mine were during the Johnson years. Would have been the Kennedy years but Texas killed him.

Re: Nice Planet X: I knew it, I'm surrounded by a-holes!

There is a school of thought that agrees with that. I think that school should be closed and the door padlocked, but some people with lots of letters after their names disagree with me.

Would those letters happen to be P-E-D-O-P-H-I-L-E-S?
