Did you have to pay to have an account? The hackers said it was like 95% male and a lot of female profiles were fake. Are there really scammers out there spending money to fake being a woman on the Internet?

I have no idea if you had to pay, but I do definitely believe there are people out there that would pay money to have a fake women's account on a website like that.

It would make sense that users have to pay - either for just having the account or they'd have to pay in order to contact people. Regardless, AshlyMadison isn't setting up that service just to be of service to cheating dicks everywhere out of the kindness of their hearts.

More likely that whatever internet conglomerate runs Ashley Madison pays people in India to setup fake female accounts using stock photos and generic info, so they can claim higher female membership than they actually have.

the hot place now is the Phillipenes, not India, for data input and non-technical work. We've been setting up offices there for a few years now, cheaper labor and easier to understand accents for their English.

IIRC the people who run Ashley Madison also run one of the largest Christian dating sites (maybe ChristianMingle?)

Get the popcorn, this is going to be fascinating and produce at least 100 Women's Studies dissertations.

Obviously there's some payment aspect to it. I just didn't know if they made you register with a credit card right away or if there was a free trial or something.

Now to figure out the next big niche online dating market and capitalize.

Now to figure out the next big niche online dating market and capitalize.

With dating sites for various religions, farmers, Russian and Asian fetishes, geeks (that one was redundant :p), etc. I think the only niche that hasn't been covered at this point is alien dating.

Figures. Our India operation is all technical, since the nature of our business and our customers demand a third shift for maximum up-time and minimal time to resolution for incidents.

Sports Fandom Dating

Simpsons did it! Simpsons did it!

(Not really, but there is already a site for Kentucky basketball fans that came out earlier this year)

What about a site for people who may be just curious but not full on bi or gay? I feel like I could get a substantial portion of the politician market.

It's like dating websites have their own version of Rule 34.

I think the original rule 34 is sequenced in human DNA.

If you can imagine it,

(1) somebody fantasizes about it

(2) somebody's doing it right now

(3) somebody's done it, gotten jaded, and moved on to something even weirder

Place I'm staying, I saw a guy checking in yesterday, he was with his wife and a couple kids. The clerk was telling them about the pool and breakfast and whatnot, and how you can order pay-per-view movies. The father says, well I hope the porn is disabled, so she says no, it's just regular porn you sick bastard.
