Re: Nice Planet #8: You People Make Me Sick.

I wonder if our resident frigid virgin will protest that these stories, which are, at a minimum, of comparable "source quality" are a construct of propagandist, police state media:

Oh Great Spaghetti Monster, why do I bother?

Obviously, you are either a cop, or have a family member that is one, because they are the only people defending those domestic terrorists.

Neither, though your use of "domestic terrorist" is a hoot. That's almost as good as the people who casually use the word "Orwellian" to describe any government action they don't like. I don't think it means what you think it means.

Re: Nice Planet #8: You People Make Me Sick.

I think there's a bit more to this than what the headline reads. The pool noodle was in really bad taste and the school should be shamed for it, but taking away the kid's cane during a bus ride was the right thing to do, assuming the report of him using it as a weapon are true.

You look good with a clip board. How are you at angrily tapping your toes? The boy is blind for the love of God. Check with an actuary on the number of kids injured every year by an 8 year old's cane. Good thing the boy didn't make a "gun" with his thumb and forefinger. You'd probably advocate cuffing and stuffing him. All power to the petty bureaucrats of the world.

If the accusations are true, the blind kid was using his cane as a weapon. Since there was not comment on exactly what that was, there's no way to know the voracity of the statement or how he was doing it, but I would imagine that he was swinging it at someone or listening for kids coming down the aisle and tripping them with it.

Here's a shocker for you, just because someone's blind, deaf or crippled in some other fashion doesn't automatically make them a good person. It just makes them blind, deaf or crippled in some other fashion.

They want to be treated as normal. And in this case, they are.

BOX.

Unfortunately for you, your instinct to side with petty bureaucrats against a blind 8 year old is your burden. One thing is for certain, your "imaginings" of what occurred and your loaded language about "accusations" and "weapons" are not relevant. I'm no expert in these matters, but if a blind 8 year old (or any 8 year old for that matter) is misbehaving, it's my impression that an adult should be able to bring his behavior into line rather easily. A firm grasp of his shoulder and a stern word would do the trick. Not in your world, however. I'm wondering if they gave the little guy his Miranda rights.

When you were a kid, if you or another kid were whacking someone with a stick, ball, ballerina shoes or whatever, the adults would only tell you to knock it off and not take away the object you were using to hit the other kids? That's all that should have been done here, that would have brought his behavior in line. Giving the kid the pool noodle is where these people got it wrong, like I said from the get go. And it's my "instinct" to correct a misbehaving child within reason while I'm supervising that child and responsible for him, regardless if he's blind, deaf or even has the misfortune of being redheaded.

Is it your time of the month again? Already?

Re: Nice Planet #8: You People Make Me Sick.

Obviously the kid should have been shot and killed, then everything's back in balance.

Re: Nice Planet #8: You People Make Me Sick.

Jesus christ are the both of you serious? Talk about embarrassing...

Taken all the sh*t you intend to take from blind 8 year olds, eh tough guy?

So, it's OK to hit people with a stick if you're blind and 8 years old. Good to know.

I said my piece with the first post. After that it's just a matter of seeing how much I can get the old man to froth at the mouth and wet his diaper. :)

Of course it isn't.

And don't run over anyone's toes with your wheelchair either or we'll put you on a skateboard.

He wasn't referring to you two.

It was in regards to a post that was made in incredibly poor taste that has since been removed.

I deleted that post and apologized to that person. It was in poor taste. My anger towards the situation (and not towards the poster) got the better of me. I am truly sorry about what I said.

Good.

We all say things that we wish we hadn't.

Glad to hear that you took care of it.

:)
