I would have used the word vandal or criminal, but rioter works too.

On another note, I've been in a casino all day. Have the police had a chance to rest up today? I would rather have the streets patrolled by a well-rested police force than a bunch of hyped up, over-tired cops. Also, anyone have any update on the cop who was shot last night? He was part of the University police force.

While I was playing blackjack I saw CNN (no volume) at the bar with a headline about the police and firefighters facing criticism for not being more aggressive last night. JFC. The cops are doing what they can. They could have been baited into attacking the crowd last night and they didn't. They were proactive until hoodlums started firing off guns at the media, firefighters and the cops. I admit I have been guilty of seeing the police there as an amorphous blob, but that tweet from the sheriff's department (as inappropriate as it was) drove home that these are individuals doing the best they can in very trying circumstances. Yes, there may be some bad cops (members of the KKK if you believe Anonymous) but just as I believe the vast majority of Ferguson residents were peaceful last night, I believe the vast majority of the police are there to try to help and do the best they can.

This whole situation would be so much better if people listened to the Brown family and didn't protest. Sadly that isn't going to happen...

Up to that point, the choices had been "demonstrators" or "protesters," both of which are insufficient. Criminals and vandals would also have been acceptable. Neither was used. Remember, the lady at the center of the Duke "rape" case was an "exotic dancer." Right.

It's on Wilson's right side, not the side that would be facing Brown if he's sitting in the drivers seat.

Assuming he was facing forward in the car, sure. But I'd bet it's reasonable to think that he was turned left (and thus vulnerable to a left hander) at some point if he was trying to talk to Brown.

Frankly, this is why you don't block the streets or jump out into traffic. The reports I heard from local sources paint a completely different story.

The protesters jumped out to block traffic and someone got hit. That's when the video starts.

I don't blame that poor guy for one second. That was a mob looking for blood. I would have gunned it far earlier.

Driver was pulled over later, not ticketed nor arrested.

KSTP chopper followed the car until it was pulled over. I know very little other than that. Once the protesters started smashing the windows of the car, I'd have done what the driver did at that point: GTFO.

This is completely inaccurate. This video makes it quite clear that the driver of the car was the aggressor (leaving aside the stupidity of protesting in the street in the first place). Once the crowd is smashing his windows, well, he doesn't have much choice...but "poor guy"? Give me a break

No, he really didn't. Sure, it's was illegal to be protesting in the street. But that does not give drivers license to use their cars as battering rams against them. I can't believe you honestly think that.

You know what you do? You do what the other drivers around him were doing, you go around and let the police deal with the illegal protesters.

There's probably a very good reason he was not arrested nor ticketed when he was pulled over soon afterwards.

Blocking traffic is near the top of the list for non-violent protests. It's disruptive and an inconvenience but, outside of idiots like that driver, it doesn't really hurt anybody or, since this country is overly concerned about it instead of people being killed, any property. Stop getting worked up because people blocked the street, maybe be a little more concerned that a person decided to run their car into a large group of people.

I already said that the driver should have gone slower. But I maintain him driving ahead was warranted, and if some idiot doesn't want to move, well, screw 'em.
