Re: Nice Planet #8: You People Make Me Sick.

And if a black cop had killed this kid under identical circumstances?

I imagine it would have been a non-story. Most shootings are white-white, or black-black and most are never a national story.

Right you are Scoob. Doesn't fit the narrative does it?

People who are concerned about the increasing police state would try and get the media interested and none of them would be.

There are (at least) two major angles on this: race and state coercion. The media studiously ignores the latter -- why this might be I leave as an exercise for the reader.

Oh heck, no I don't: they concentrate on the former because there people can argue about whether a problem that everyone agrees is bad -- racism -- is present in the case. That's safe. Start people wondering whether the cops should be armed to the teeth and killing people apparently at will and you start questioning the coercion that keeps the whole game going, and that is the last thing network owners want aired. In a world where so few own so much, they really need the cops armed to the teeth and on their side for when sh*t gets real.

Or, rather than try to manufacture this into a branch of class warfare, which it clearly is not, they correctly ignore it because the instances where an innocent person is shot by an armed officer is a tiny, infinitesimal fraction of the day to day interactions between police and the public in this country.

Re: Nice Planet #8: You People Make Me Sick.

What you'll see on Faux "News"
This was an angry black man who broke the law. He charged the officer, broke his orbital bone, tried to grab his gun and the brave officer had no recourse but to shoot the thug.

What you'll see on MSNBC
This was a misunderstood black youth who volunteered in nursing homes and helped little old ladies cross the street and wouldn't hurt a fly, who was shot in cold blood by a racist white cop and left on the street like a dog.

What you'll see on CNN
The Ferguson Grand Jury is an abject failure because they did not find the plane.

I would bet no fewer than five talking heads on broadcasts tonight will call this a trial (it's not) and refer to the decision as a verdict (it's not). The media will say that the Brown family has requested 4.5 minutes of silence before the protests (a minute for each hour he was left in the street) but will not mention the numerous times they have begged people not to protest at all.

If I lived and Ferguson and had the means, I would be heading for a vacation in Branson or getting an early start on my Thanksgiving travels.

Re: Nice Planet #8: You People Make Me Sick.

Let me guess, you haven't read anything I've written and aren't intelligent enough to comprehend it anyway, hence your most recent comment?

You think your posting history suggests you'll agree with no indictment? ;)

I never said I'd agree with it. Doesn't mean the grand jury (members) is corrupt, the prosecutor's history and his handling of the case make bribery/coercion or whatever it is you're implying completely unnecessary.

Re: Nice Planet #8: You People Make Me Sick.

The police chief just told CNN "it looks like the night before Christmas out there" in reference to the gathering protesters outside the police station...um...not sure that's the description I'd use....

Re: Nice Planet #8: You People Make Me Sick.

CNN is reporting there will be no indictment. CNN is also reporting that water is wet.

Re: Nice Planet #8: You People Make Me Sick.

'dis gon' be good

I remember being in college and locking ourselves in our rooms when the OJ verdict came down. Anyone within 50 miles of St. Louis might want to consider the same this evening.

Re: Nice Planet #8: You People Make Me Sick.

If he is indicted the trial will be held in what state?
I'm voting North Dakota, Montana, or New Mexico.
