Re: Nice Planet 6: Get Me Off This Planet.

Bad news for the tabloids, probably good news for the people involved....

Life was back to normal Thursday morning for the New Jersey teen who sued her parents, as she left home early to head to school.

Rachel Canning, 18, has not dropped her suit, but returned to her Lincoln Park home Tuesday night to “reunite with her parents and siblings,” said attorney Angelo Sarno, who represents Sean and Elizabeth Canning.
...
On Wednesday, Sarno called the conflict “over,” noting that an agreement had been reached “amicably” — but wouldn’t comment on why the lawsuit hadn’t been withdrawn.

“At the end of the day, she’s home and we are trying to make it very clear that this is something we are happy about and not make this more of a reality TV show,” he said.

“As far as we are concerned, this is over. This is a case that should have never been. Nothing good came from this case,” Sarno said.

He added, “The precedent cannot be set that kids get to do whatever they want. That’s the picture here.”

But there would be far fewer instances of it if losers had to pay the winner's legal fees.

I'm reminded of the old joke: Lawyer sitting at his desk late at night. Devil materializes and offers to make him the richest, sexiest, best lawyer in the world. All in return for the immortal souls of the guy's wife and kids to torture in Hell forever. After a long pause, the lawyer says: "What's the catch?"
