Nice Planet 6: Get Me Off This Planet.

Re: Nice Planet 6: Get Me Off This Planet.

Apparently the Obama administration is considering an attack on an American working with terrorists and helping to plan attacks against US interests. We killed Al-Awlaki (who encouraged the slaughter at Fort Hood) and his kid. Would it be appropriate for the US to act? What is the standard of proof? What if the Brits had had the ability to take out Lord Haw Haw. Would they have been justified? Would we have been justified to shoot a Hellfire up John Walker Lindh's a*s? I think so. And I think we would be justified in acting here, especially if there's no other way to get our hands on this traitor. AQ and the Taliban don't honor extradition treaties.

I feel we need a public service announcement that cops don't just wear guns for show. They wear them for personal protection, they are deadly, and they WILL use them if they feel their life or well being is threatened. They also shoot to kill.

Why didn't the owner come out when the dogs were going nuts to see what was going on and maybe try to calm them down?

There was a big car chase involving the police and state patrol on the highways around here recently, maybe you heard about it. At the end, the driver crashed the car, he and his girlfriend got out of the car and all the while the driver pointed a gun at police. The police killed him and his girlfriend.

KARE11 had his friend on their broadcast last weekend. This guy starts telling the story of his buddy, the one that got himself killed, and said he started off as a good kid but then took some bad turns with drugs and such. Well, part of the story is the guy giving the interview said that he was in the same exact situation as his buddy a few months ago, he had pointed his pistol at the police after the chase ended. For whatever reason, this guy wasn't killed by the police, no shots were fired. The interviewed guy laid down the gun he had been waving at the police and surrendered. It was the start of turning his life around, at least he claims. Then he had the gall to ask why his buddy had to die. Guy doesn't realize how lucky he was that he didn't end up like his friend. Idiot. And at the same time, KARE11 actually chose to air that bit at the end. I couldn't believe it.

Because the dog wasn't acting aggressive towards the responding officer at all or anything...

Also, when you listen to the officer speak, did he sound happy about the way things unfolded?

Just saw that on the news here. They had a dog training expert look at it and while the expert says maybe pepper spray or tasers should be investigated in the future as a tool against dogs, she said could not disagree with what the cop did. The dogs were aggressive and could have bitten/attacked at any second.

When something happens frequently enough, it gets its own descriptive title.

"People who want to die, yet lack the conviction to point the gun at themselves, will often point the gun at police, secretly hoping to get shot" is also called "suicide by cop."

I was involved in one of those nearly forty years ago. To this day I still don't know why I didn't pull the trigger, but I'm glad that I didn't.

Contrary to the views of some, guns don't kill people. Contrary to the views of others, "people" don't kill people. And contrary to the views of only Flagdude, we don't have an army of crazed cops running around indiscriminately shooting people.

People die by gunfire in this country for one reason, and one reason only -- stupid decision-making.

I enjoy guns. I own many myself, all of them rifles or shotguns. I've used firearms since before I was a teenager. Part of being brought up in a family with a tradition of hunting.

I've never owned a handgun. Thought about it a few times. Friends who know my background inquire as to whether I own one, will every buy one, or will every acquire a "conceal and carry" permit. And even though I've thought about it, I can say with almost 100% certainty the answer is "no." And here's why. It just gives me an opportunity to make a very stupid decision.

I can get as angry, frustrated or frightened as the next person. Who's to say that if I was carrying a handgun on my person or in my car that I wouldn't be tempted to grab it the next time I'm in one of those situations. And that would be a stupid decision. It could lead to me getting shot by cops who entered my house by mistake. It could lead to me getting shot by another motorist with his own gun. It could even lead to me shooting someone. Candidly, I have no desire to either shoot someone or get shot myself.

Until people stop making stupid decisions like carrying a gun on their person in public, giving troubled youths access to your family's firearms, engaging in risky behavior while carrying a gun, people will continue to die by gunfire in this country.

Enacting limitations on the designs or types of guns won't solve it. Embarrassing the police won't solve it. Until we start punishing those who make the stupid decisions, the problem remains.

You want to own a machine gun. Fine. You want to own ten handguns. Fine. But when the crap hits the fan and you make a stupid decision with one of them, including enabling access to them by someone else who uses them for the crime, you're accountable. That's how we address this.

agree whole-heartedly with this sentiment.

Unfortunately, there are wide swaths of people in our society today who disagree. There are whole industries now based on victimhood.

A judge who grants a rich kid probation because of an "affliuenza" defense? really? and of course if you call someone a name they don't like to hear, well then an over-the-top reaction is perfectly justified.

Looks like Ray Nagin can share a cell with Kwame Kirkpatrick

http://fxn.ws/1bN5uBU

A jury convicted former New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin Wednesday on 20 of 21 federal corruption counts, including bribery, marking a stunning fall for the feisty official who gained a national profile following Hurricane Katrina.

The 57-year-old Democrat, who led his city through the aftermath of the 2005 storm, was found guilty of charges that he accepted bribes, free trips and other gratuities from contractors in exchange for helping them secure millions of dollars in city work while he was in office.

Re: Nice Planet 6: Get Me Off This Planet.

Former NOLA mayor (and well known pos) Ray Nagin convicted of massive corruption. He represents that traditional American blend of greed, stupidity and ruthlessness that characterizes so many urban politicians. The lofo voters of NO rewarded his criminality with a second term. H*ll, a lot of 'em probably think he's getting a bad deal here, too.

Florida executes animal who raped and murdered a little boy.

"Testimony showed Chavez raped the boy, shot him when he tried to escape, then dismembered his body and hid the parts in concrete-covered planters."
