Re: Nice planet 4: Take 2. Action!

Why on earth would anyone consider a 15 foot long, 100 pound python a "pet?"

http://www.nypost.com/p/news/national/tragic_photos_emerge_python_brothers_59LvjWT0J8R58jQsCWLCEI

My parents told me growing up they had a neighbor with an 8-foot python. They fed the thing whole rabbits. One day it went missing.

They found it in their 2 year old's bedroom wrapped around the light fixture while she was asleep in her crib.

I've thought about picking up a ball python a couple times. Max length 4-5 feet, not enough to nom a human.

Reminds me of that video I saw online a few weeks back.

This is what happens to people who could be Bond villains, but they lack the ambition.

Yikes, another argument for good old round door knobs! I have a friend whose cat used to open the lever handle doors by jumping and hanging on the lever.

This group got some publicity for a tweet where they noted these findings:

Read that again. There's a group of people that not only has a 28% disapproval rating for Martin Luther King, but that actually has a considerably higher approval rating for Paula Deen (73% compared to 59%). I don't care what your interpretation is of her recent scandal... that's messed up.

Maybe it's because she makes a better peanut butter pie?;)

What's "messed up" is your condescension toward people (black & white) who aren't willing to join the Paula Deen lynch mob.

I've written before about the unbelievably cruel Texas phenomenon known as the "canned hunt." Idiots who own big cats wind up selling them. And equally idiotic Texans wind up shooting these pets (it's cheaper than flying to Africa) and mince around as if they are great white hunters. These animals, with an enormous potential to harm humans, have nevertheless lost their fear of people. And associate people with food. So they approach rather than flee. They figure they're gonna get fed--and not shot. I don't know if "canned hunts" are still legal in Texas. I hope not.

From the felony stupid file:

LAS VEGAS, N.M.
Authorities say a man driving a truck with police lights on top made a crucial misstep during a bogus police stop in northern New Mexico.

Police say the two men he pulled over for speeding were real state police agents in an unmarked vehicle.

According to New Mexico State Police, 26-year-old John Shelton, of Logan, was arrested Wednesday following the sham traffic stop in San Miguel County.

Investigators say Shelton had a pistol on his hip and told the agents he was a member of the New Mexico State Police Search and Rescue and a trained law enforcement officer _ something officials later discovered wasn't true.

Shelton is facing charges of impersonating an officer.

It was not clear if Shelton had an attorney.

Yep. You got me. I totally posted that just to point out that their opinion of Paula Deen was the major problem in that comparison. And your genius to see through my post and know that I secretly want to see Paula Deen hung from a tree by an unruly mob... you are a maestro, dare I say.

My recommendation (re: mutal ignore) still stands. For both our sakes, take me up on it.

I'm not going to pretend to know the minds of the people voted, but I could see people taking issue with MLK when you consider someone like Jessie Jackson connects himself to MLK in front of the media at every chance he gets. Add to that, MLK's plans for changing the course of his work have been leaked, though I've not ever seen them, and it's understood that he was looking to move towards an income redistribution platform in addition to racial equality. When you take into account that, it likely raised his disapproval figures some. How much, I don't know. Oh the whole, given what the man actually did, especially when compared to the likes of Malcolm X, you wouldn't find me amongst their numbers.

All things the typical Georgia voter considers during a poll.

Not to defend the 28% of Georgia Republicans in that poll that disapprove of King, but one would think that how a person views another's opinions on income disparity is a legit thing to think about at a pollbooth.

That they chose to let that (or some other reason, I guess) overcome their opinion on an otherwise extremely highly regarded leader of the Civil Rights movement is another thing altogether.
