Godfrey Daniel! It's time to get Keanu Reeves warming up in the bull pen.

It's always hugely entertaining to watch one of these mouthy b*tches get hers. Like on Cops or similar programs when the babe get all: "I'm on the 'phone, I'll comply with your request for my license and insurance when I'm done." Turns out she's already done, when he tasers her smart-a*s. Watching them flop around on the ground like tuna is terribly entertaining. I think my all time favorite happened in the Greenwich Village McDonald's. Ms. Sassy Pants got all indignant when the cashier wouldn't accept a $50, slapped the cashier, and hopped the counter. The guy retreated then came back to the front with what appeared to be a piece of rebar (or maybe a golf club) and beat the living holy sh*t out of her and her friend. IIRC, charges against him were dropped, as they should have been. What gets in to some people's heads that they think carrying on like savages in public is appropriate?

In the case at hand, I would say "mom" clearly abused the child. It's not clear whether she knew the lady across from her on the bus. But if she didn't, that just makes it worse. I'll go out on a limb here and suggest whatever they were arguing about was of microscopic importance. And certainly not worth risking injury to that cute little guy.

Wow, talk about someone who needs to be committed to a psych unit. But I am sure somehow he or his family will find someway of suing Home Depot for allowing such dangerous tool to be laying out in the open....

We shouldn't let a tool like that in the open and I'm not referring to the equipment. :D

Here's a boring doctrinaire liberal professor at USC, prattling on about Al Gore "winning" in 2000 and all the rest. His assertion that the least flexible voters are old white guys is amusing, given the 97% of the black vote that "the one" got. I guess we're supposed to be shocked. . .shocked that there's a liberal professor somewhere. What would be newsworthy is if this guy punished students who disagreed with him for deviations from the party line. That would be a different matter. But that's not alleged here.

Yawn.

One student could cull 15 minutes of my lectures to show that I favor one side, another could do the same thing and show that I favor the other side.

Once again, Fox shows that most of its "journalists" went to U-MSU.

Re: Nice Planet 3: I Can't Believe I Share A Planet With THESE People!

Got any evidence to cite on that claim?

I do, but it is weak.

This is the field in which I work, and have done analytical research on the use of firearms by civilians against criminals in mass-shooting situations. The reality is that those occasions are so rare that the ability to draw conclusions is very limited. Generally, the civilians did actually cause the situation to worsen; however, that is not a broadly-applicable conclusion, but an observation. So there is evidence, but not rising to the level that one would need.

I, for one, would be content if the data set remains limited.

Well, this culture war stuff is evidently a regular feature of their "reporting." As such you can't expect them to hit a home run each time. As students at an elite private university, I would expect most USC kids to be able to discuss politics with this guy intelligently, whether they agreed with him or not. They're adults and should be able to stand up for their points of view. If he's not open to discussion and disagreement. Or if he punishes students who disagree with bad grades, then I'd have a problem. Otherwise, who cares?

It is an enduring gun guy myth that "if only" somebody with a gun was at: Newtown, Columbine, VTU, Aurora, Luby's Cafeteria or the scene of any of these mass shootings, only good things would have happened. It's to be fervently hoped that would be the case. But it's by no means certain. If my daughter takes one in the face from some student aiming at Woo Tang Klan, am I supposed to feel better? She died in service to the 2nd Amendment? Trained police officers occasionally hit innocent civilians and even each other. Why should we assume good outcomes when civilians start shooting in these life threatening, target rich situations?
