If there was, most of the posters in the political threads would be on it. ;)

Our school system is raising a bunch of pansies. Thank god my parents sent me to private grade schools.
Don't blame the kid's school for this. That right there is because of the teacher and whoever else there that didn't slap her on the face and tell her its a farking pop tart. JTFC!!!

I actually have to agree here.

That's what the school should have done. But, instead, they suspended the kid. How is that not the school's fault?

Yeah, now that you mention it, yeah, should blame the school administration here for being a bunch of pansies. Hope the rest of the kids start having pop tart gun fights at school just so they can go home for a couple of days because Josh got to go home when he made one.

Re: Nice Planet 3: I Can't Believe I Share A Planet With THESE People!

How long before a parent gets some media time and actually calls out a school for something like this? And more importantly, how long before said media time goes viral and starts embarrassing the Sh%t out of the school?

Just seems that we keep hearing about these things, but nothing ever really comes of them... Parents grumble, kid serves suspension, schools continue being idiotic...

http://www.theblaze.com/stories/2013/03/02/high-school-student-disarms-gunman-gets-suspended/ This has got to be the most ridiculous Public school bull shat ever. 6 students suspended for disarming a fellow student of a handgun as he was about to shoot up the school.
You know when I first saw your post, I was thinking maybe he stabbed the kid. I thought, "there's no way they'd suspend a student for simply tackling and getting the gun away from him. No way that would happen."

Wrong. Are we really sure that we want to send the message to kids that stopping someone from getting shot is the wrong thing to do.

They really do not want people to be sheep - Don't fight back or you will get suspended.

So, does this mean I would be expelled for making various Rubber Band Shooters out of erasers and paperclips?

I'd have gone to jail for the spitball fights we had in class.

If I was the police chief I would be slapping medals on the students to send a message to the idiots at the school.

If I'm that kid's dad, I tell him the following.

"On the first day of that suspension, you march right through the ****ing front door of that school and go to your first class. Anyone tries to stop you, you just ignore them. Don't say a word except for "no, I am not leaving." If anyone, ANYONE, from that staff lays a hand on you, you call me on your cell phone and I will drop everything, drive down there, and lay down the thunder so hard they'll lock down the school AGAIN."

ETA: Unless it was a gang shooting or something. Then it's probably a good idea to lay low for a while. But SUSPEND him? Really? Just tell him "you've seen some shiat, take a few days off and take it easy while we sort everything out, after that you can come back when you feel ready." Everyone wins.

Ladies and gentlemen, I now give you the newest thing to cause schools to enter lockdown:

Yeah, now that you mention it, yeah, should blame the school administration here for being a bunch of pansies.

There is something seriously wrong with our schools of education these days, those schools that hand out degrees to teachers.

We had an "old-school" principle at our local high school and he was great. He knew how to set priorities so that if a kid did something serious he was severely punished yet if a kid did something rambunctious yet relatively harmless he also was treated appropriately.

Then a new principle came in and very quickly alienated almost everyone. Every year the students get to run a revue which is basically acting silly to music. One kid had a skit based on Michael Jackson's "Beat It" and was originally threatened with a week's suspension for being sexually suggestive: apparently they (the adminstration) did not even know that "beat it" meant "get lost" they inferred that it "had to be" about masturbation merely because it was a teen-age boy! and that same week, one student physically assaulted another and was given three days of detention!

There was quite a bit of hue and cry over this disparity and eventually the first student's punishment was dialed back to detention as well. Still, it seemed pretty clear that these new adminstrators had no clue how to deal with actual adolescent human beings and were totally clueless, relying solely on some theoretical "should be" guide that appears to be worse than useless.

Re: Nice Planet 3: I Can't Believe I Share A Planet With THESE People!

I'll say it again: Twitch Boy circa kindergarten 1989 could not have made it through the US school system circa 2013. The teachers back then realized I was rambunctious and idiosyncratic, but mostly harmless. Worst case they would just send me home if I did something particularly heinous, where dad would take care of the rest. 2013 I would have been suspended for life after I made a finger gun while pretending I was James Bond or Master Chief on the playground.
