Re: Nice Planet 2012

I'm bitng my tongue right now, but I just want to scream

These are two police officers in a major American city. What on earth could he possibly have said to "intimidate" them? Something that they don't hear every single day.

Those gals are probably one sandwich away from a full-on attack of unable-to-workitis that will have them suckling at the teet of the generous public for years.

This is very good:

That's... incredible. I would kill for one of these hanging up in my family room.

Re: Nice Planet 2012

Remember the 13-year old who saved up the money to buy a hot dog cart to help support his disabled parents? He was stopped by brave city officials in Holland, MI. Well, now the boy and his parents are homeless (which no doubt could have occurred even if he'd been given permission to sell his dogs) and separated. Another triumph of government. Shouldn't they be trying to help this plucky kid and his folks, instead of taking away the only chance they had?

"I'm from the government, and I'm here to help you."

Re: Nice Planet 2012

The headlines on today's shooting in College Station are all including some reference to Texas A & M. However, as far as we know, apart from proximity this event had nothing to do with the university. Yes, they issued a "Code Maroon," but after VTU that was lpretty much ordained. Of course in the VTU incident you had a Virginia Tech student murdering other students in a campus building. This incident is a bit different. So issuing a "code Maroon" is an appropriate safety measure to alert students to stay away until further notice. But this really wasn't a "Texas A & M incident."

You see the same phenomenon in Orlando, just about every crime is reported in terms of how far away from Disney World it was. Sometimes an incident ten miles away or more has some reference to Disney World in the reporting.

Just a cliche.

Wasn't on campus, just near it. Looks like the guy was shooting at a constable serving him eviction papers.
