Re: Nice Planet 2012

Hey smart a*s, evidently your continual wallowing in your own "brilliance" distracted you from noticing I had already posted that. Post #111 on the "Rampage in theatre" thread. But accuracy isn't exactly your highest priority, is it?

This quote's for Kep. :p

I've got a suggestion: let's call this off. You're unhappy with my responses to two of your assertions: the first that Penn State should be "burned to the ground," the second that killing US citizens overseas would inevitably lead to presidentially sanctioned murders here at home.

While I find these assertions exteme on their face, I also concede I was too harsh in my responses to them. And for that, I apologize.

Agreed. Perhaps things got a bit out of hand. :o

School board in Miami wants to evict a Baptist church that is renting space in a high school because the school board doesn't agree with the church's teaching on homosexuality. Although I don't think the Levitcus Codes should have much currency these days, why does the school board think what is preached in this church is any of its business? Don't fundamentalist Baptists have rights, too?

I'm going to disqualify myself since I posted the picture.

I see Dean Rusk and Gromyko (sp?) don't recognize the 3rd guy. Lots of heavyweights in the pic: Nikita, Hubert, Adlai, etc. Probably something to do with the UN since Adlai was the ambassador. Maybe the 3rd guy is whoever was GenSec at the time (U Thant?). WAG: signing of the Nuclear Test Ban Treaty?

Edit: nevermind. That's U Thant standing between Nikita and Adlai.

Lester Pearson signing the decree that created the UN Security Force that resolved the Suez Crisis in 1957?

Re: Nice Planet 2012

I hadn't seen it. My prescription would be for some NON-disabled vets to pay those a*sholes a visit. You know, for a little attitude adjustment. "Why don't you try kicking ME, you chicken bleep mother effer?"
Would have thought that Trifecta would have popped up for you.

Disabled Vet.
Medium Wage Lackey at the airport on a power trip.
And Animal abuse.

The only way the employees could have even made it worse there was if the punched a baby.

Yeah, pretty much hitting for the cycle. And you've got to know United execs are face palming over this one. I'm pretty sure that behavior is forbidden in the employee handbook.

Or if they were in a union. Or if they were Muslim.

Let's be honest here, just for the novelty. I have no problem with Muslims. I have a problem with Islamist priks who want to murder Americans, like "Dr." Hasan. To suggest I have a problem with or hate "all" Muslims would have as much intellectual weight as me suggesting you "support" or "defend" these a*sholes, which is to say, none at all.

Re: Nice Planet 2012

Are the mayors of Boston and Chicago merely pandering in the Chick-fil-a "controversy?' Who knows? It could be, after the chest thumping, some sort of "agreement" will be reached by which these intolerant sob's allow the company to open stores in their cities.

This intolerance is especially irritating, coming as it does from people who regularly, constantly, obnoxiously espouse the virtues of tolerance--frequently (usually?) demanding tolerance or at least understanding for America's enemies (Ward Churchill, Susan Sontag).

In this case, Chick-fil-a has made no secret of the religious views of its principals. Being closed on Sundays should be enough of a hint. And the recent statement by the CEO about their support for traditional marriage is hardly revolutionary.

What would be relevant to all the political posturing would be claims that Chick-fil-a discriminates against prospective franchisees, or suppliers, or employees or demands that franchisees discriminate against THEiR employees or customers. I haven't heard any such claims. Have you?

Discriminating against customers would be particularly difficult. How do you administer polygraphs to people in a mall?

The pipsqueak Chicago alderman opposing a store in his ward has modestly suggested that the company might get his seal of approval if it rewrites its employee handbook to his specificiations. Does this grandiose political twerp realize how unintentionally funny it is to demand a company with 50 thousand employees at over 1600 locations should conform its company materials to HIS standards?

Not to be outdone, Roseanne Barr said Chick-fil-a customers "deserve" to get cancer. That pretty much sums up the "thinking" of the tolerance crowd.
