Those students need to have god**** picket lines all over campus. Send some of them to NCAA headquarters and have them go all 99 percenty.
I would have killed for the "shopping" system at Tech. That's a genius idea at a tougher school.
I hope all the NCAA's important stuff is behind a pretty good firewall.
ETA: Looks like Caltech itself self-imposed the punishments. Can the NCAA decline to accept them?

CalTech sports are basically like high school anyway. Back when they were getting all the popularity with the basketball losing streak the coach said six of his guys hadn't even played varsity level basketball. I went onto their website and there's a page where you can sign up to tryout for teams.

The Trib is in the link, but I had a good idea this was from Chicago just by the description. There's a story I read a year or two ago about a new "game", I don't recall the name, that has been rising in popularity among Chicago teens. Apparently you just go up to someone and try to knock them out with a punch. Sounds like that's what happened here.
Though it also says he was a gang member, so maybe it was some initiation thing or something.
