And since the store is family owned, she won't be losing her job because of some bull sh*t company policy. As cops will tell you, make sure there's only one story when we arrive, and she did. Bravo.

In this day and age, a criminal would have to be absolutely brain dead to get a child wrapped up in their crime. NOTHING will make you into public enemy number one faster than messing with a child, and with the advent of social media and the 24/7 news cycle people will hunt you down to the ends of the earth. And you'd better pray the police get to you before they do.

And another thing: aim for the knee? That's a tough shot for the average person and would just make the bad guy angry. I've always been told aim center mass and do not stop pulling the trigger until the threat gives up or they drop.

I'm guessing the child was located around center mass...

She had to had hit an artery, and let the bastard bleed out. Hell of a way to go.

Also, pretty true about what you said about messing with kids and being in prison as well. Can't imagine he would have been all that well liked in the joint if he had done something to the kid.

Girl not allowed to march in her homecoming parade in her ROTC uniform AND her hijab. Predictable reactions all 'round. FWIW, my reaction is of course you're not allowed to wear a head covering with your uniform. You're not allowed to wear pink rubber boots, either. But without saying so, the article implies officials at her high school sent mixed messages about what the uniform requirements are. She should have been informed about what a uniform is all about the moment she joined. No misunderstandings. No hurt feelings. No ridiculous claims of religious discrimination. So while the ruling is absolutely correct, it seems like the adults here set her up for this disappointment, which is unfortunate. The military has extensive rules about uniforms, when they they can be worn, how they can be worn, where they can be worn and by whom. That's why they're called uniforms. And while no exceptions can be made by the military, perhaps she could have made an exception with her religious headgear. Perhaps in this one instance a Muslim could have compromised for a change.

She was probably afraid that if she compromised her dad, uncle and 2 older brothers would gang rape her and publicly behead her for bringing the family shame.

I hadn't thought about that. However, the continuing examples of Muslims demanding special treatment because of their religion is getting on my last nerve. Remember the gal in Florida who didn't want to unveil for her drivers license? Uh, dear, it sorta defeats the purpose of a "photo ID" if you're allowed to wear a mask. That silly business wound up in court. Ultimately she lost. Florida had promised to take the photo in a private room, with only female employees involved, but no. We gotta do this the way they do it in Muslimistan.

The names and employers of the jurors in the Casey Anthony trial have been released.

Over/under on how long until one of them gets whacked.

I want to do my civic duty and be a juror some day. Stuff like this makes me reconsider.

Frankly, there's no point in whacking any of them, now. Their job's done, and only the truly delusional would seek one out 3 months later for a decision that didn't involve them personally. The over/under is probably 35 years, or whatever the odds are of one person out of 17 (counting the alternates) being victim of a random homicide/terrorist attack/other act of violence.

The parties get the names of the jurors, along with a questionaire with basic life info (such as age, employer, profession, etc.) before the trial starts for voir dire, so if they were going to do anything, it would've been months ago.

Re: Nice Planet 2011

I don't understand blaming the jury in that case, if you think she was guilty, then the only people to blame about her going free are the prosecution for putting together a horse**** case.

That's exactly what I meant. Some looney from the peanut gallery upset about the verdict does something stupid. Some of the jurors had already received death threats, and at least one fled the state because she feared retribution at work.

There is no shortage of stupid angry people, especially in Florida.

Yeah, but obviously the people at work already knew she was a juror. If they were going to do anything, it would've been about 2 months and 3 weeks ago.

I'm trying to figure out who this mythical nutjob is that would still be wanting to kill a casey anthony juror 3 months after the fact that wouldn't have already known the jurors names. Hell, it took me about 2 minutes just to remember who the fark Casey Anthony was, though admittedly I didn't give a flying fart about that case even when it was going on. Hadn't heard a thing about it until about a day before the verdict.

This, this, this. I was so "happy" (lacking a better term...) not about the actual verdict but the explanation. It was nice to see the system work, even when it's clear what happened, even when the jury knew it would make most people sick to their stomachs.
