Re: Nice Planet 2011

Found this in the Tribune. Routine story about corruption in Illinois ("impossible!") What caught my eye was the dude's hairpiece. If that isn't the worst rug in the history of north America, it's in contention. How can anybody wear that thing in public and believe he's fooling anyone not blind or not 5 years old? He looks like a dust mop. Awful, horrible. Maybe he thinks it makes him look sexy.

Story about Professer Irwin Corey. Panhandling in NYC. Don't know whether to laugh or cry. One of the great TV moments came on the old Mike Douglas show. Corey and Zsa Zsa were guests. And she was going on about her jewelry. Husband #2 gave me this. Husband #12 gave me that. After what seemed like an hour of this shiza. Corey observed that she had gotten the jewelry on the "layaway plan." Her nibs was not amused.

Then there's this guy. Convicted in a triple homicide in which two little girls were raped, doused with gas, and incinerated. His lawyer says the guy has "cognitive" difficulties. That being the case, the executioner should take the extra time needed to explain to this t*rd what's happening to him on the gurney.

There was a lengthy article on the husband a few months back in either GQ or Esquire, I can't remember. It was a completely horrifying story. The tragedy of what happened to the women, and how this guy had to live through it, escape his burning home, and what he's gone through since, is unreal. A magazine article has never made me cry, but this one was **** close. Very well worth the read if you can find it online.

Good riddance to this criminal and the other one too. Eternity in hell isn't a long enough time for what they did.

What the hell? That's AWFUL.

Re: Nice Planet 2011

Here's a couple of drunk, smarta*s b*tches who will think twice about hopping the counter at Mickey D's again. You don't hit the employees. You don't hop the counter, ever, period. The guy did seem to respond with a little more enthusiasm than absolutely necessary. But these two babes started it. And he ended it. Epic beatdown.

Honestly, I hope the guy gets off clean. If someone came behind the counter when worked at DQ, I'd have done anything to defend myself. I would immediately assume robbery.

How does this a*shole, convicted of FELONY child endangerment, not get a significant prison sentence? Still, he's gonna have to attend "parenting classes." That ought to teach him not to put his infant son in a hot oven.

Keanu had it right in "Parenthood:"

"You know, Mrs. Buckman, you need a license to buy a dog, to drive a car - hell, you even need a license to catch a fish. But they'll let any butt-reaming a*shole be a father."

When I was assigned to the Far East Network in Tokyo, the chief engineer was as bald as a duck. And I asked him why he didn't get a rug. He explained that if he went out and hired the dude who did hairpieces for John Wayne and Frank Sinatra, paid hundreds, perhaps thousands of dollars for the thing, the first time he wore it in public some dude would come up and say: "that's the best toupe I've ever seen."

Hahahahahaha. That's brilliant.

He got some pretty big charges, the beotches got criminal mischief

Re: Nice Planet 2011

I know. I hope they're dropped.

While he over-reacted, the coverage of this event makes it seem like the dude "attacked" two helpless, unsuspecting, innocent customers. They weren't any of that. I'm with you: cross that counter and you deserve what you get. The fracas started when the "ladies" offered a $50. Lots (most?) fast food places won't take bills that large. The guy was probably just following orders. Besides, what exactly, did those b*tches think they were going to do behind that counter? They had already assaulted him. As I say, when they get out of hospital, I'm guessing they'll be a little reluctant to do any counter hopping the next time.

High school spanish students in McAllen, TX (ten miles from the border) required to recite Mexican flag pledge and national anthem in class. One girl refused and was given an alternative assignment. Is this a big deal or not? I think not. If this was part of some ongoing effort to indoctrinate the kids that would be one thing. Or if the kids were required to do this everyday. But that hasn't been alleged nor shown here. Could the teacher have chosen different memory assignments? Probably. Watch the video. The only student shown is Latino and the teacher is Latina. We had memory assignments in my high school, once a month you had to learn a poem or passage or speech. BTW, it's always better to offer to say it in front of the class rather than writing it out. Teachers always give you a little wiggle room gradewise if you're willing to go up there and sweatout remembering the assignment. In grade school we each made a mezzuza in our comparative religion class, nobody was trying to turn us Jewish.

To me, learning about and showing respect for your neighbor is different from showing lack of respect for your own country. I would assume these kids all say our pledge and sing our anthem. If not, then that's a horse of a different color. The girl who objected wasn't kicked out of class, made fun of or given a failing grade. She was given an alternative assignment. What's the problem?

Yeah, whatever outrage I had about this story quickly dissipated when I heard the details. Seems very reasonable to me.

The two things that would push this into "Uncceptable" to me would be if there were some repercussions for the girl from her teacher. Or if the pledge and the anthem were just the camel's nose. No reference to either of those in the story.
