I guess she recanted her testimony, said she was coached during the trial, and supports his pardon?

The idea seems to be that he was innocent, not that his punishment was excessive given the crime.

I read a little bit about it last night...while I wouldnt have pardoned him yet something about the case seems a bit off and her recanting is very strange.

The outrage over it is because Bevin did it...if it was a less nutso Governor (especially a Lib) Caroline Orr would have waited longer to comment. I like Orr a lot but she is pretty transparent.

I cant find a real account of the story...only the basics of the current story. And it is WEIRD! The original judge in the case retired and started communicating with the convict and his daughter. She recants at a hearing but the new judge said the old judge coerced her to shift her testimony and the appellate court agreed.

And of course if you look at a picture of the guy he looks right out of Central Casting for a child molester :eek:

I dunno...this is Kentucky so who knows what the heck is going on. He might get released and marry her just to really make this story ridiculous.

The guy on the right looks like every neighbor I had in rural MD.

Farmington University? Reminds me of a story my dad told me of when he was in Law School and a guy got in trouble for writing in the school paper about The Farmers University of Central Kansas :D

edit: If the prosecution is right and the students knew the school was a fraud they should be deported. What ICE did is wrong, but that doesnt excuse the students from fraudulently trying to stay in the country. Trying to obtain resident status through a known fraudulent university is still fraud.
