Weird. I grew up in East Tennessee with several classmates named Rachel, who were all as WASPy as the rest of us, so I never really thought of it as a particularly Jewish name. I guess fundies read the OT, too.

Nah, it makes sense. OT names go to Jewish kids in the civilized world and Fundy kids in the sticks.

If you meet a non-Jew named Aaron, Jacob, Moses, or Isaac they're mostly likely a Dump-voting thumper.

Weird. I only knew one Aaron growing up (and don't recall any Aarons I know right now). He was Roman Catholic, FTR.

Weird indeed. I know 6 Aarons currently, probably 14 or 15 if I include childhood buddies I've long since fallen out of touch with. Only one was Jewish, and only one is a die-hard GOPer. They are definitely not the same Aaron. :)

I remember that "Aaron" was one of the first precious names that helicopter parents dropped on their snowflakes. The girl equivalent was Ashley.

This was before every Ivy Leaguer's brat's name had to rhyme with "Aiden."

Every other boy I knew growing up was named David, but that probably had to do with growing up where every family is either Jewish or Catholic.

I swear I never met a Protestant until college. I thought they were some obscure minority cult.

The most common guys' names were Mark, Matthew, John, and Luke (or Lucas/Lukas).

Given my Roman Catholic upbringing, go figure. ;) Michael was a close 5th.

Michael was also on my parents short list. It was my name, Aaron, Michael, or Gregory. They didn't try very hard.

First Patrick I met was in college, he was a roommate.

My short short short list of names was either Curtis or Brent. Thankfully, mom won that argument.

I have a very common Irish Catholic name...no idea what else my parents considered.
