It's almost always the Thumpers, but some other authoritarians like to take a run at it sometimes: blacks who don't understand why Twain and Faulkner have to include racists when they write about the South; women who don't understand why authors hundreds of years ago could not foresee the social taboos adopted fifteen minutes ago by 1% of the graduate student population.

Just in general people who want to rewrite all of history and only permit their point of view to be heard. Hereafter referred to as "bullies and morons."

The Missouri Republican who wants to establish "parental review" boards for libraries and jail librarians if they don't comply? You know why he's doing all that? Drag Queen Story Hour. He's upset that drag queens are reading to children... that's all.

We need more mental illness funding in this country. These people should be institutionalized, not retweeted.

I really hope to have discussions about gender and equality with my children at a fairly young age. I want them to understand the foundational concepts so they can learn to:
a. Speak truth to power
b. Work the system to change the system
c. Be good people

The thing is, you're 98% of the way there if you just teach them "don't be a d-ck." It's not like this requires deep training in ethics. The monsters in these cases are simply people who have substituted their invisible man drivel for empathy and humanity.

As long as your kids aren't sociopaths, they should be fine. Basically: don't raise Republicans. They suck as people.

Regarding your last paragraph. They’ve already got a lot working against them. White, suburban, upper middle class, college-educated (hopefully), away from the coasts. That’s going to take a concerted effort to fight against all of these headwinds ;)

Yeah, I think there was an update that was applied that borked the system. I was getting SQL/javascript code on the top of the webpage at times as well. The webpages take longer to load as well.

The christian right is a true beacon of light, throwing its weight behind a man who espouses that kind of thinking and his master who brags about grabbing women by the genitals.
