Re: Nice Planet 13: This Planet Sucks

It's the old adage: the average radio listener lasts 5 minutes before changing stations. Fans of Howard Stern listen 15 minutes, because they want to hear what he'll say next. Haters of Howard Stern listen for 30 minutes...because they want to hear what he'll say next.

Re: Nice Planet 13: This Planet Sucks

People like O'Reilly, Howard Stern, whatever blowhard you want to name, is that not only do they draw the people who are fans, they draw people who AREN'T fans. The non-fans want to hear what these people say next, so they can complain about what crap the hosts spew. ;)

I guess this is right but I just can't crawl into those heads. I can't listen to that stuff because the stupidity just BOTHERS me. The obvious contradictions and appeals to emotion occur regularly. This is infuriating -- even moreso when it's a "friendly" POV.

Stupidity is repellent. It's why all advertising and almost all editorial content are unwatchable / unlistenable. It's beneath the audience, and after 10 seconds I'm reaching for the off switch with blood in my eyes.

I can only go for a little Rush when I'm driving around in his prime territory. A couple of years ago, I tuned him in for the lulz while driving around in southern Utah.

I'd like to congratulate Fox News on their Bill O'Reilly replacement.

However, as evidenced from a statement Carlson made on a previous show of his, taking over the space from O’Reilly is hardly a giant win for those rooting for O’Reilly’s departure.

During a 2006 segment on Carlson’s former MSNBC show, “Tucker,” Democratic strategist Steve McMahon claimed that Democrats taking control over Congress would usher in an era of “a lot more fun.”

In a slight departure from the topic, Carlson responded with a reveal of his own feelings about sexual harassment.

“A lot more fun?” Carlson said. “This is a group that made up the concept of sexual harassment. ‘You look great today.’ ‘Boom, I‘m charging you with a crime.’”

As noted in The Daily Dish back in 2007, Carlson also spoke about sexual harassment on an earlier iteration of his MSNBC show.

“So it‘s basically everything related to sex that we don‘t like is now sexual harassment,” said Carlson.

Congratulations Fox. Congratulations.

I suspect that's approved somewhere in Leviticus. Blasphemy, dontchaknow.

Heresy would get you an invitation to the auto-da-fé.

Of course, defining heresy was always left to the people in charge.

Vlad could also emulate his Transylvanian relative.

How long until the hotel and resort industries start making the backroom calls to the airlines and informing them they'd better get their collective acts together once people start flying less and less, trying to starve one industry and instead killing others dependent upon United, Delta, and American?

Sean Hannity. You're next.

Sean Hannity is the latest Fox News star to be accused of sexual harassment.

In an interview with the Pat Campbell Show on Friday, former Fox News contributor Debbie Schlussel claimed that Hannity had invited her to his hotel room — twice — when they appeared together for one of his programs. But when she rebuffed him, Schlussel said that she was never asked back on the show.

Schlussel claimed the “awkward” incident began when Hannity invited her to a store where he was signing books. While there, she said Hannity asked her: “Why don’t you come back with me to my hotel?” Schlussel said she responded: “No, I have to get ready for the show.”

Schlussel said Hannity pressed her again to come to his hotel room after the show taping, which did not go well. She refused.

“I wasn’t booked on his show again, and he called me and yelled at me,” Schlussel said. “It was made clear to me that I didn’t go back to his hotel with him after. I got a very weird feeling about the whole thing, and I kind of knew I wouldn’t be back on his show.”
