Cant See Why This Sign Would Be Racist

"After posting a yard sign directing Chinese people to stay off his grass, a California man says he isn’t being racist, just specific.

The sign, which El Monte resident William Alarcon made and posted on his lawn Monday night, read: “Chinese, keep your dogs off my grass. Respect your neighbors.” He taped a separate “Keep off the grass” sign on top.

Alarcon told ABC Eye Witness News that the sign was directed at his neighbors, sisters Alexis and Rose Anne Yu. The women are Filipina, not Chinese.

“I’m not being racist or anything, I’m being specific,” Alarcon, who says he is Native American, told the news station. “The Hispanic woman was doing it and I spoke to her and she stopped doing it.” "

I do know you and that you meant no harm. I was somewhat surprised by the backlash myself, but I'm just saying that when you walk that line (even with good intentions) sometimes you're going to feel some pain. :)

I expect some backlash, as in "hey, that's not cool." But to actually accuse me of being something I'm not.....there's where I have an issue.

Well This is Awful

Students at Choate Rosemary Hall, an elite boarding school in Connecticut, were sexually abused by at least 12 faculty members in incidents that date back to the 1960s, according to a report commissioned by the school and released on Friday.

When the school, which includes President John F. Kennedy among its graduates, learned of sexual misconduct involving its faculty, it handled the improprieties internally and quietly rather than reporting them to police, the report said.

“We profoundly apologize,” Choate said in a statement acknowledging the findings. “The conduct of these adults violated the foundation of our community: the sacred trust between students and the adults charged with their care.”

Oh Lord...

Police are investigating the vicious assault Monday of a Muslim woman in Milwaukee in what the local community is calling a hate crime.

The 58-year-old woman, who does not want to be identified, told Fox6Now a man armed with a knife attacked her while she was walking home from her mosque early Monday. She said a car pulled up alongside her and he hopped out, demanding that she remove her hijab.

“I tried to fight him,” she told the local news channel. “‘Don’t take my hijab,’ you know? So he threw me on the floor then he beat me like an animal.”

“Before he hurt me, I said ‘today I gonna die,” she recounted to WISN. “I gonna die.’”

I'm more disturbed that people aren't ratting out. I get the "code" where you protect friends, even in fear of retaliation, but there is a line....

Been hearing things, I admit. But if he hasn't been caught (last I heard) then people are not talking. That's an issue.

The article said friends and family are cooperating and many are in protective custody.

They still haven't found him, though. Family/friends are obv sources, sure. Someone is not saying something. That's the issue.

Look up "omerta." I don't mean to offend, but there are some things you just don't get, as in truly get. It's not a character flaw, it's something you are unfamiliar with (which I realized in that infamous downtown MPLS taser night; this is not meant to be an insult).

Do you have comprehension of street/mafia/gang practices? The "old school" would rather perish than talk to authorities. And that practice has been passed on for generations. This is the case here. You don't realize it, again, no fault of your own, to realize it. I've seen it. I've read MANY books on the subject, I've tried to make myself fully educated on said "underworld" organizations and attitudes, due to some experiences. So, no I am not high.

Open your ears. Might learn something.
