I wanted to say rarely. But the headline news thread has a life expectancy of around 250 posts before it gets locked.

By the way, I come here for politics (well, now I come here for everything) because the discussion is usually civil and the posters on both sides tend to shy away from there usual "hurr durrrrrrr" arguments.

Agree. This is the most intelligent political discussion area I've been on. Most actual political sites are unreadably dumb. I can't even read the sites I agree with because the "reasoning" consists of grunts and other bodily noises. A 2 poster here is still like a 7 anywhere else.

I *really* appreciate this site.

What happened to Jup's ban on politics? He used to take a very stern stance on it.

Agreed. I think the conversations with my dad are the only more intelligent discussions I participate in (and I'm not the one who raises the quotient).

The righties on this site (a few in particular) are great to read. I know I give them a hard time or get into it a bit much sometimes, but it's still five steps above anything else I've read.

He still has one. But he's actually good about waiting to see if the argument flames out quick. If it doesn't he locks it fairly quickly.

Yup. I wish there were more of them, but I think we may already have all of the intelligent conservatives that are available. ;)

Yeah. I stopped talking hockey with the boards a while ago. The "fire Lucia" crap got old on GPL in 2006.

The cafe and general discussion are:were where it's at.

I'd make a comment, "Wow, and I thought Minnesota was such a progressive state", but Hillary only won it by 20,000 votes. So, let's face it - almost every state's rural areas have plenty of cranky old men and their Stepford Wives.
